It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Allen Grocox announces his passing on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 84 years.
Larry was born in Mays, Indiana on February 6, 1941, to David Grocox and Merle Elliot. Larry spent most of his life residing in Indiana before retiring in Henderson, Nevada. Larry married his true love, Jan, on Valentine’s Day in 1975 and together they raised their blended family. A man of faith and the foundation of his family, Larry led by a Christian example. With an appreciation for life, Larry loved to keep busy working, cooking, fishing and spending time with his friends and family, to whom he was always sure to express his love and appreciation for them. He especially enjoyed cooking holiday meals for family gatherings, as well as, baking treats, candies and jellies for coworkers, friends and anyone lucky enough to cross his path. Although Larry officially retired in 2004, he would not sit still for long and proudly served his new community by working an additional 20+ years for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Throughout his life he had an outgoing and welcoming way that won the hearts of many. His signature gift of gab, his love for pranks and his caring nature will never be forgotten.
Larry is survived by his seven children, Shari Harrell, Gary Smith (wife Trish), Debbie Grocox, Kimberly Morel, Temple Mullen, Tammy Lovell (husband Robb) and David Grocox (wife Jessica); his 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Dewey Grocox. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Libbie (“Jan”) Akao Grocox, his parents; his sisters Pattie Grocox and Carolyn Palmer; his brothers Mike Grocox and Jeff Grocox; and his grandson Brandon Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 12 noon at Palm Southwest Mortuary located at 7979 W. Warm Springs Road, Las Vegas, NV, 89113. A reception will follow after the service.
