My birthday,  10/28/22, survived stroke in September.

I worked with Larry for over twenty years with the City of Miami Beach.He was a great CO worker and such a gentle soul.But if you pissed him off forget about it he would give it to you.I always wondered about Larry and how he was.I just received a notice of the employees who passed away 2023.I was sad to see Larry on the list.I have fond memories and fun times.Rest in Peace.

I worked with Larry at the City of Miami Beach parking department for  about 18 years. He never came in in a bad mood at work. He had wonderful stories to tell. He took care of his mom. He was always someone that I could go talk to, and never be judged. he will be truly missed   Anytime you wanted to find him on his lunch break he would be playing, believe it, or not, he loved Pac-Man!! He would go to a certain place on 23rd St. and Collins Avenue that he said “had the best Pac-Man machine on the beach “. R.I.P. Larry.

Dotti: I met Maxine more than 20 years ago when I was working at JCP as a Stylist. Maxine came in for a haircut and style. I started doing her and continued for several years. During this time we became good friends.
After I left JCP, Maxine agreed to come to our home and I continued to service Maxine. This is when Dan and I met Larry. Maxine would come once a week for a service and Larry would come once a month for a haircut.
Getting to know Larry was easy. He was a great story-teller and had a good memory of their vacations and trips that they would take. 
My greatest challenge with cutting Larry's hair was trying to keep him awake. After I washed his hair, he would relax in my styling chair, his head would start to slowly droop and then, suddenly, bounce back up after he was awakened by Maxine yelling "LARRY wake up".
Dan here. My fondest memories of Larry happened when we had a few moments alone while Maxine was being serviced and I would listen to Larry discuss his time in the military. He was proud to be a veteran. He always had great stories from the time he worked in parking enforcement. Some of the shortcuts he told me about his job, especially during bad weather, were hilarious.. Needless to say, the City may not have received a full day's work for a full day's pay. His bawdy jokes and emails always were entertaining. Nuff said about the bawdy jokes.
As time passed, our friendship evolved into the occasional lunch or dinner especially around their birthdays. We really enjoyed those times together.
Larry you will be miss and you were loved. You will always be in our thoughts.

Larry was always fun to visit when we were kids.  I remember he was the "cool" uncle- he would let us stay up late, watch horror movies, and crack jokes that we would've never said in front of our parents.  He introduced me to all sorts of fiction, and Carlos Castaneda, and would play chess with us and keep us entertained.  He had a great sense of humor, and a kind heart.  Rest easy Uncle Larry.  We will miss you!

Anyone who met Larry will tell you how nice and kind he was, a nice compliment to my mother, who was once known as the Dragon Lady in her teaching days!😀 He treated my mother like a queen for 24 years, and up to the last few months of his life, was there for her through thick and thin. He came into my life at a time when I was just starting life on my own, and it was nice to know that my mother had someone in her life that supported her and made her life better. I think of his quick witted jokes, his OCD habits of every little thing being in a certain order….., for which I could not find a cure, and how much he loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandson, my nephew Danger! In closing, a phrase I will remember most, “eat the cake, enjoy the cake!” Love and miss you

Larry & I were married for 24 years on 10/9/2023.  He was a gentle soul, who loved unconditionally.  I gave him a family,
especially a grandson, who he adored.  His puns and jokes were part of his normal conversation, and he had a great sense of humor.  His last weeks were horrific for all of us,
but all I had to say was "Danger" and a smile would appear.
Danger and he had a remarkable relationship, Danger taking him out to lunch, bringing him soups from work, stopping over often and spending the afternoon with him.  Our last trip together, was to Missoula, MT to see Danger play with the Missoula Symphany Orchestra.   He was so proud his chest grew 24 inches.  We went to every concert while Danger was in school, starting at pre-school and
continuing to college.  
Without my son Joel and his wife Anita he would have been hospitalized much sooner.  Their caring, love and support helped Larry, but I couldn't have done anything without them.  
Monica was with me all day Sunday, Monday and made sure Danger could speak to him on the phone Monday.
He was loveable and surely loved.
Anita's parents have made us part of their family.  The celebrations shared indelible. Rest easy & in peace.

Larry was the sweetest, gentlest person I’ve ever known. His upbringing was difficult. How many five-year-olds try to run away from home and nearly get expelled from kindergarten. But he grew into someone about whom you could never say a bad word. He taught my wife Gwen to drive a stick shift while he was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He taught my two sons to play chess. He and I played chess by mail while I was stationed in Southeast Asia. When I urged him to put in the effort to become a chess champion, he laughed and reminded me that chess was just a game to be enjoyed. He was incredibly proud of his grandson, and talked about him at length during every phone call we had. He loved Maxine and was thankful that the two of them had found each other. The months leading up to his passing were a nightmare for his loved ones, and most of all for Maxine. I loved him as only an older brother can love his younger sibling, and I will miss him terribly, but in my heart, I know he is at peace now.

Heartfelt sorrow to Maxine and the family on the passing of Larry Kaltman. A true gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. He was very caring and loved his family.  Thinking of you at the sad time..

Always so fun to spend time with Maxine and Larry. Larry was a “classic” and we loved that he always made Ben feel like part of the family. He will be missed…

He was a quiet man with a Happy personality 
You could count on him to add a joke to our gatherings.  He enjoyed our family meals and especially coffee afterwards.  Larry you will be missed but not forgotten ❤️
