Leondino G. Cruz, (Lunding, Lolo, Leo, Lee, Dico) a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on October 15, 1934, in Malabon Rizal, Philippines, he embarked on a remarkable journey, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Leondino was a beloved husband to his devoted wife, Narcisa for over six decades. His unwavering commitment to his wife was evident in his every action, always going above and beyond to ensure her happiness. A loving and caring father to Mabelle, Jeanette, and Michael and grandfather to his 8 grandchildren, he instilled in them the values of compassion, humility, and perseverance.
In 1968, he moved his family to the United States and in the span of 25 years, Leondino worked his way up to the esteemed position of Vice President at the Arthur E. Fink company in Chicago, IL. In 1992 he retired to spend 24 hours, 7 days a week helping Narcisa run her business at which point he liked to joke he was no longer retired but simply tired.
Leondino's presence touched the lives of many, endearing him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was adored by all who knew him for his gentle demeanor, kind heart, and humble nature. His kind and patient nature made him not only a beloved “Lolo” to all but also a true friend to those who sought his company.
He enjoyed playing mahjong and ping pong with his family. However, his absolute favorite pastime was singing karaoke for hours on end, enchanting those around him with his melodic voice. His infectious enthusiasm and love for music brought joy to countless gatherings. Leondino's inherent curiosity and ingenuity led him to become an adept tinkerer. Armed with duct tape, he continually sought to improve or “fix” things that weren’t necessarily broken, but just needed to be better. His family marveled at his resourcefulness and determination to add his unique touch to everyday objects.
As we bid him farewell, we take solace in knowing that his spirit will live on in the lives of those he loved and touched. May he find eternal peace and may his legacy of love and selflessness continue to illuminate our lives. Rest in peace, dear Leondino, knowing that you will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Leondino was survived by his wife, Narcisa; his daughters Mabelle (husband Joey) and Jeanette (husband Don); his son Michael (wife Deedee); and his 8 grandchildren Sushi (husband Michael), Riki (husband Chris), Narisa, Jadon, Milan (husband Alex), Siena, Ellie and Leila.
