

Leslie Carl Chism, 75, passed away on June 23 after a difficult & lengthy illness. He was an entertainer/singer/musician, playing the piano from the age of 5 years old. He began performing in bands at age 13 playing piano and saxophone with local bands around Memphis. Les later formed his own band, NiteMood, as lead singer & musical director performing throughout the Midwest & South for over 30 years. Les worked with numerous singers, including Brenda Lee & Charlie Rich, and recorded several of his original songs including, “Living Without You,” that played well on radio. Les was driven by his love of music and with his wife, entertainer/actress Carole Bellmyre, performed in “Let the Good Times Roll,” a rock, pop & country music show for over 8 years in Las Vegas. Les was also an Elvis impersonator& a great fan of Elvis & his music. Golf was a big part of Les’ life and he played well receiving 7 “Hole-In-One” awards and numerous accolades as well as many bowling trophies. Born in Arkansas, Les grew up in Memphis, TN and attended the University of Memphis. He worked in management at Ford Motor Company in Flint, MI for over 30 years retiring in 1998. Les leaves his wife Carole, and while together, their love survived all adversities & grew stronger throughout the years to the end. He leaves behind four loving daughters, Jana Nun, Connie Chism, Lori Knight, Kacie Bruscha; a son, Damon D’Amato; two sons-in law, Brandon Nun & Scott Knight; & three grandchildren, Delaney, Spencer & Emmeline Knight. Les’ loving parents, Jewel & Leslie Chism, who he loved so dearly, preceded him in death. A memorial will be held to celebrate his life in September at Sun City Macdonald Ranch.
