Mike served in the US Air Force from 1960 until his retirement in 1980, and had successful careers in the restaurant industry until his retirement in 2016.
Mike enjoyed keeping in touch with his many friends around the world. He also enjoyed politics, NASCAR, as well as being an avid movie buff.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Georgia and Leslie Pinnell, and his son Michael Pinnell Jr.
He is survived by his wife Sonia; children Michelle (Doug) Tyree, Martin Pinnell, Theresa (Eric) Hackney; grandchildren Christine, Michael and Jessica Tyree; Tanner, Emily and Robert Pinnell; and Remington and Dakota Hackney; great-grandchildren Austin, Rylan, Ava, Jace, Kayla, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Jackson Tyree and Avery Pinnell; and siblings Anne Tobben, Jon (Jane) Pinnell, Sue Picker, Dennis (Sharon) Pinnell, Patrick Pinnell, Mary (Bob) Wood, and Becky (John) Waters.
