Linda Faye Valero was an expressive, optimistic, and uninhibited individual. To everyone around her, she seemed to be eternally happy, and she willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life she touched. Linda could bring out the best in any situation. She really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.
Linda was born on October 21, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph and Ella Mae Geldert. Linda was raised in San Diego, California with five siblings, an older sister, Sharon; two younger sisters, Becky and Ginger; and two younger brothers, Joe and Mike. Even as a child, Linda had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around her. She was raised to be warm, caring and friendly. She couldn’t help but capture everyone’s attention. She was possessed with an outgoing personality and a lively imagination. As a result, Linda experienced a rather active childhood, and she liked to ride her bike and loved riding horses.
Linda never actually encountered a stranger in her dealings with people. While growing up, her best friend was Elizabeth Montijo. Later in life, she became friends with Lani Gabriel. Linda loved sharing her life and having her home filled with people she knew.
The gift of being emotionally expressive and outwardly affectionate made Linda very easy to approach. On June 3, 1972 Linda exchanged wedding vows with Romeo Valero at National City Courthouse of San Diego, California. She was always sensitive to other people’s feelings, and that was especially true in marriage. Linda and Romeo were blessed with four daughters, Tina, Gina, Rolinda, and Emiliana. They were also blessed with eight grandchildren, Ernie, Alyssa, Emilio, Jesus, Omar, Jessica, Rena, and Christina. Linda had the ability to focus her attention on the present moment. If she was spending time with the kids, that’s where all of her attention was directed. Linda was also a lover of animals and cherished her pets, enjoying them almost as much as she enjoyed being around other people. One of Linda's favorites was Molly, a small Chihuahua mix whom she was best friends with for sixteen years. Her family was rounded out by her new dog, Windy.
Linda worked as a planner for General Dynamics for 15 years. During her leisure time, she loved shopping, playing keno, and playing bingo. Linda was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching her favorite events whenever she got the opportunity. Tops on her list were football, golf, racing and baseball. A generous person who often wore her heart on her sleeve, Linda often found herself involved in activities she deemed important. She was charitable, kind and giving, qualities that made her a natural volunteer. Politically, Linda was a strong supporter of the Democratic Party.
Linda believed that you had to experience life, and her life in retirement was no different. When that day finally arrived in 2003, Linda took it in stride as one more way to have fun. Her new life involved relocating from San Diego to Las Vegas. With her boundless energy and a desire to get the most out of life, Linda remained busy with people and projects. In retirement, she found new pleasure in decorating her new house, taking care of her grandchildren and husband, and just enjoying her life.
Linda passed away on July 5, 2020 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas after a brave battle against dementia. She is survived by her husband, Romeo; children, Tina, Gina, Rolly, and Emmy; grandchildren, Ernie, Alyssa, Emilio, Jesus, Omar, Jessica, Rena, and Christina; and her brothers, Joe and Mike. Services were held at Palm Southwest Mortuary, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Linda brought joy to all of those around her. She never had a mean bone in her body. She loved to have a good time and was an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of things. She loved to share her energy, wit, and her zest for all of her activities with her friends and family. Linda Faye Valero lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. She will be remembered with a smile.
