

Lirio T. Escota, Sr. had been a resident of Las Vegas for approximately 3 years, arriving from Jersey City, New Jersey. He died on November 13, 2014 after many years of battling renal failure. Lirio was born on April 12, 1928 in the Dinalupihan, Bataan,Philippines to Vicente and Francisca Escota. He found his soul mate and partner for life, Betty Jimenez, and they were married on May 30, 1959 in Manila, the Philippines. Lirio received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the East and for most of his career worked as a CPA in support of the United States Navy, a profession which took him around the world and eventually to the United States where he settled as a U.S. Citizen. Afterward, he worked as an accountant in New York City for many years until he retired. Lirio was musically gifted and played the ukulele, accordion, and piano, and he loved to sing, especially serenading those on their birthdays with many uplifting tunes. Lirio is survived by his sons Lirio Jr. and Leonel; his daughter Liribeth; five grandchildren: Brencis, Aldrich, Chelsea, Darla and Dannae; and two great-grandchildren Chloe and Jayden; daughter-in-law May; son-in-law Peter; and his beloved dogs, March, April, Puna, and Keeper, all of whom brought him great comfort and joy.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on November 22, 2014 at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123.
