Louise Margaret (Scarpellino) Bredice began the next part of her journey on January 2, 2024. We have lost a loving, gentle spirit. Thankfully, her suffering has finally ended. “As long as we remember a person, they’re not really gone. Their thoughts, their feelings, their memories, they become a part of us.” – Justin Cronin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her best friend and loving husband of 41 years, Bob Bredice; her sisters, Elizabeth (Thomas) Halpin of Essex Junction, VT, Patricia (Bruce) Carlton of Ballston Spa, NY, and Connie Snyder and her life partner Matthew Crowley of Essex Junction, VT; her three sons, Daniel (Dr. Cynthia Lawrence) Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, and James (Suzanne) Lawrence; and her grandchildren, Sam, Sabrina, Dalton, Tyler, Andrew, Austin, Lindsey, Sarah, and Garrett. She also leaves dear friends, Dave Tino, Cheryl Triepke, Sonia Prusinski, and Nica LeMay; several surviving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins; and an acknowledgement to a special relationship with her dearest cousin, Anthony Scarpellino, whom she considered a brother.
Louise was born in Glens Falls, New York to Andrew and Elizabeth (Julian) Scarpellino. Louise graduated from Glens Falls High School. She earned a BS degree in Secondary Education from the State University of New York at Potsdam, and attained dual master’s degrees, one in Secondary Education and another from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas in Elementary Education. Louise also took courses from many other colleges, including the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, the University of Connecticut, and Hartford College. She had also completed her course work for her Doctorate in Education.
Louise’s professional work experience included teaching at a private school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and at various schools in the Clark County Nevada School District. She worked at Beatty School in Las Vegas, as well as taught at the school at Nellis Air Force Base. She worked at casinos part time and at Jai Alai frontons in Connecticut and Florida.
She had many talents. In addition to being a very creative and exceptional teacher, she created a large amount of artwork including oil and acrylic paintings, drawings, macramé, knitting, crochet projects, sculptures, fabric arts, and, later in life after becoming legally blind, she drew amazing cartoons and even illustrated a book! She excelled at interior decorating and her classroom displays were remarkable.
An avid reader and writer, she maintained correspondence with many people. She loved to ski, and enjoyed watching and betting on sporting events such as Jai Alai, football, and tennis. Louise and Bob would spend hours watching YouTube for anything new in regards to our universe. She would always say that if she had the chance, a career in astronomy would have been her dream. Many will remember Louise for her well-developed sense of fun, her sense of humor and adventure, her exceptional work ethic, her loving care of elderly family members, and her steadfast relationships to many.
Those now surrounding Louise with love are her parents; her paternal grandparents, Giuseppe and Maria (Milano) Scarpellino; maternal grandparents, Frederick and Elizabeth (Deignan) Julian; an infant brother, Andrew Frederick Scarpellino; brother-in-law, Peter Snyder; brother, Andrew John Scarpellino and sister-in-law, Judith (Haviland) Scarpellino; sister, Maria Scarpellino; nephew, Daniel Gary Carlton; and great-niece, Sophia Nelson (12).
