Our Mother was raised in a tumultuous time in Cuba, where freedom was compromised, however she was raised with conviction and grit, because she was brave and wanted more for herself, her future, her family.
Our Mom married our Father and had one son and still with such a young family and the odds against them, they ventured off to the US; where freedom was not compromised and free will and opportunity were possible.
Lourdes thrived in this country; she wasn’t going to waste the opportunity she now had. As immigrants in an unfamiliar land; it was our Mother who somehow managed to get them (her and our Dad) housing, a car and a job!
She and our father went on to have two more children and were married for 18 years.
Lourdes, now living in Las Vegas, raising her three children and caring for her own mother, thrived, not without hardships but here in this time instead of choosing to be defeated, she soared! She, our mother was a single parent providing, caring for us the best way she knew.
She had an amazing spirit and was and still is Inspiring!
Our Mom was an Artist and a lover of education, her interests were painting, photography, and drawing.
She was passionate about leading a holistic lifestyle, and she‘d want to share all the information she had read up on. She was so enthusiastic about all what she learned and how you could apply it to your own life and it would help you too!
She loved cooking and wine! She loved her wine, okay…but she was enthusiastic about feeding you and it was always great! Boy we will miss her Black beans, her flan (Experiments) ha-ha.
Lourdes could cook, that’s for damn sure, but she was so much more as our Mom, we can all say she was our best friend, each of us had a unique solid relationship with her that matched no other in our lives…How is that possible? She gave you 100% of herself. You could tell her anything, she was remarkably open minded, especially for her generation, she made each of us her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, feel so special and important! Because we were to her!
We were her life!
We are her!
We will continue to have her in our hearts, in our every days, in our thoughts, in our prayers, in our cooking, dancing, laughing, silliness...she will be in our gestures, our smiles, our tears.
