

Luz Naidas Hlavaty peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving “little” sister, Prudence Landicho, and dear friend Marie Guevarra, along with her devoted caretaker, Tess Bermejo, in the early morning of Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Luz was 94 years old.
Born on November 3, 1930, in Malita, Davao del Sur, the Philippines, Luz was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, lola, and best friend. She touched the life of many and was known for the love of her family. Luz loved to cook, especially traditional Filipino sweets. She also loved to garden, which often made the ingredients to those beloved dishes. Most of all, she loved traveling the world.
Luz received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and even travelled to Australia to study Psychiatric Nursing. She married late in life to her wonderful husband, Albert. They were married for 17 years.
Luz was the 4th child of 8 siblings. Proceeded in joining the Lord: Mother & Father, Leocadia Salmon & Victoriano Naidas; her husband, Albert Hlavaty; her siblings, Amanda Dacanay, Pasita Tan, Beatrice Regidor, Alfredo Naidas, Lilia Castro, and Jose Naidas.
Luz never had any child(ren) of her own, but had 10 nieces and 17 nephews, and over 40 great nieces and nephews. She loved all of them as if they were her own.
