OBITUARY

Marcus Allen Frederiksen

December 26, 1969 – October 2, 2021
Obituary of Marcus Allen Frederiksen
IN THE CARE OF

Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery

Marcus Allen Frederiksen passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Oct 2, 2021 at Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. Marcus was born in Iowa where he lived until he was 6, at which time he moved to Wyoming with his family. He called Wyoming home until 2015 when he chose to move to Las Vegas, swearing he would never again visit “the frozen tundra”. Mission accomplished! Marcus was survived by his two children, Andrew Ray, and Rachel Faith whom he spoke very highly of, and loved very much. His mother, Marta Sue, siblings, David Lee, Chera-Mia Susanna, Neal Francis Edward, Shawn Erik, and too many to mention nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad Gerald Francis, and both sets of grandparents.

Anyone who is anyone, knows that Marcus was a true believer, and that if given the opportunity, would sit and speak to you for hours about his faith, and his love for our higher power. While the rest of us were not ready for his departure, Marcus always spoke of knowing where he was going. As you can imagine, there are 2 sides to every work of art, and Marcus didn’t hold back the opportunity to have those sarcastic, and frequent joking moments. When given the chance, humor and laughter always reigned. All of us probably heard at one time or another, “I’d give you a hand but my feet are the only things that come off.”, or “No applause, just throw money.”

What’s a story about Marcus, without mentioning some treasured memories from his children. Rachel recalls doing one of her dad’s most favorite things, singing. She says she loved their time in Vegas doing karaoke, and that it is a memory she will forever cherish. Andrew and Marcus shared a special bond in the gaming world, and Andrew will forever be grateful he has moments like those to remember.

Let’s not forget his love of sports. He was ecstatic when the Kansas City Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl, and we can probably all agree that he is glad he isn’t around to watch another Denver Broncos football game. Although he will absolutely miss the playful bantering he shared with his lifelong best friend, and “brother from another mother”, Malcolm.

When he wasn’t in front of the many “Crow’s Nest” TVs airing nothing but sports, he was enthralled in his passion for music. Marcus spent many hours writing, laying tracks, practicing, and recording, not only his own originals, but also songs he helped others to create. Band mates, and beloved friends of the Rockfarmer album, and the Bought The Hoe Farm label, were constantly talked about in his world. If you knew him, then you know that while he didn’t verbalize much, he would say he, “Missed playing with the guys”.

Marcus was and will forever remain, very much a hero in the eyes of many. People couldn’t help but notice a kid conquering a 5k with prosthetics, due to having Arthrogryposis. A teenager going after his dream of being a drummer, an artist who shared his works with family and friends, or even just a regular dude who made everyone around him want to be better. He left a lasting impression on everyone who came to know him. No one can argue that Marcus had heart. Not only for himself, but also for others.

Celebrations of life will be held in Las Vegas, NV and Casper, WY with dates and times TBD. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Shriners Children’s as they were very instrumental in getting Marcus “on his feet”.
