

Margaret C. Black, a Nevada resident for 33 years, passed away May 8, 2011. She was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Barcaldine, Queensland, Australia. She was a wonderful wife, having celebrated more than 67 years of marriage to Kenneth B. Black. Margaret is survived by her husband; daughter, Maria T. Barth of Las Vegas; sons, Kenneth Jr. of Coto De Caza, Calif., and Paul of Lake Mathews, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Danielle, Heather, Jessie, Kevin and Keith; and four great-grandchildren, Jake, Gracie, Rocco and Sophie. Her only remaining sibling of her seven is her sister, Theresa of Australia. A gifted homemaker, she also taught for more than 25 years in the Catholic school system in Montana and California. Margaret was proud of having attained U.S. citizenship in 1953 and toured more than 40 states, as well as Canada and Mexico. She was a member of several fraternal organizations and past president of several. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow, at noon, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. A reception will follow. Margaret, a gracious and lovely lady, will be greatly missed by all of her devoted family and many wonderful friends.
