

Margaret Nickerson Crockett (Peg) passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2022, at the age of 97. She was born in Pasadena, California on September 12, 1924 to Henry Cobb and Hazel Harvey Nickerson. The family lived on Orange Grove Boulevard where she would watch the Rose Parade from a tree in the front yard. In 1937, the family moved to Las Vegas where her father built Hidden Well Ranch. Peggy attended Las Vegas High School, class of 1942. In 1948, she married George Crockett who had built Alamo Airport near the Hidden Well Ranch. During World War II, Clark County purchased Alamo Airport, which became McCarran Field, and the Crocketts continued to operate the fixed base operation as Alamo Airways until it was purchased in 1967 by Hughes Tool Company and became Hughes Aviation Services.
After selling their business, they enjoyed travelling the globe with friends. The Crocketts enjoyed hosting many friends at their homes in Wyoming and Mexico and their ranch home in Las Vegas. They hosted many memorable events including the annual Las Vegas Rotary Club demotion party for 30 years. Peg was proud to have been named an Honorary Rotarian in 1992. She was a long time member of Mesquite Club, Assistance League, and the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. She was especially proud to be a Regent of Gunston Hall, the home of George Mason, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. She was honored by the Boulder Dam Area Council of the Boys Scouts of America for her many contributions to Scouting.
She was predeceased by her husband George, her son Henry Chris Crockett, her parents, and her sister Nancy Fox. She is survived by her daughter Caty, granddaughter Alix Norton (Matt), and great-grandchildren Henry and Cate. Also by step-son George M. Crockett (Pat) and step-daughter Darla Corso (Ron), grandchildren Greg Crockett (Leann), Michelle Deisinger (John), Jennifer Wood (Fred), Kim Atkins, Pamela Atkins, and James David Atkins (Rebecca), and great-grandchildren Delaney Deisinger, Zack Wood, Trace Wood, Kyle Atkins, and Samantha Atkins.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 1 from 11 AM – 2 PM at Spanish Trail Country Club.
