It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Maria Antoinette Licciardi, who passed on March 11th, 2025.
Maria Licciardi was born on October 27, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter to Ernestina and Ermenegildo Ziccardi. Through her adolescence, Maria attended and graduated from Providence High School in Chicago, Illinois, a school centered around her faith. She was a devout Catholic and would say the rosary every day, in the morning and the evening, in the presence of a blessed mother statue in her home. As her parents only spoke Italian, Maria was tasked in helping her parents adjust to Chicago, speaking on their behalf and becoming proficient in limited English.
When Maria was fifteen, she learned to play the piano. Her favorite song to play was Torno a Sorrento.
On July 4th, 1959, Maria married her husband of 65 years, Felix Francesco Licciardi, whom she met in Chicago, Illinois.
Some of Maria’s hobbies included traveling. As many of her family is from Europe, she spent a lot of time traveling all throughout the continent and enjoyed taking pictures of anything and everything everywhere she went. Her family remembers her collecting albums of each vacation event, celebrating their adventures and memories.
Although she is 100% Italian, she never cared too much for pasta. Instead, Maria was a lover of seafood dishes. Some of her favorites included: fresh fish, lobster tail, and scallops.
Maria loved to dress up and go out dancing. One of her favorite holidays was New Year’s Eve—A time for her to spend a night with her husband. They would get dressed, go out for a fabulous dinner, and dance to their hearts’ content. She adored dressing up in extravagant outfits. Her closet consisted of lavish hats, coats, jewelry, and was known for always wearing a signature hat. Whenever there was a party, Maria made sure to show up and show out.
Remaining to cherish Maria’s memory are spouse, Felix Licciardi; children, Edie Maria Provitera (Robert Provitera), Lisa Laura Medina (Rick Medina), Mario Gennaro Licciardi; and grandchildren, Brian Anthony Hoeft, Francesca Taylor, Joseph Mario Licciardi, Marco Medina, and Lizette Medina Ortega.
Preceding Maria in death are her parents, Ernestina Ziccardi, Ermenegildo Ziccardi; and two brothers, Enrico (Henry) Ziccardi and Pasquale (Pat) Ziccardi.
Our family will be honoring Maria's memory with a catholic service at The Guardian Angel Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Archdiocese, located at 302 Cathedral Way, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Fr. Mugagga Lule will serve as the Parochial Vicar for Maria’s services.
