Maria Mercedes Tornell, "Ramy Blue" (her stage name), 84, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011. She was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Moron Camaguey, Cuba, and was a 41-year resident of Las Vegas. Mercedes was a former Las Vegas showgirl in the 60's; and in the late 70's, worked as a manicurist. She was a devoted mother and friend. She loved to work outdoors in her garden and care for her animals. Mercedes is survived by her son, Armando Mazorra; daughter, Janu Tornell; former husband and life-long friend, Juan Tornell; her family in Cuba, Florida, Indiana, and Virginia; and of course her dear friends. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, July 22. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside service will follow at Palm Memorial Park - Eastern.
