Maria Wilkinson, age 70, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

A memorial service for Maria will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113. Guests are welcome to wear colors of choice. Maria's favorite color was purple.

Maria was born January 8, 1951 in Jimenez, Mexico. She was very attached to her father growing up. Maria was the leader of her circle of friends and was known to play pranks on the nuns. She was always a hard worker and learned work ethic at a young age while working at her father's perfume shop after school. Maria also learned to cook from her parents at a young age and later when working at the family owned restaurants, Bandidos and Montezuma's.

Maria came to the United States when she was 17 and knew very little English but quickly learned. She met the love of her life, Craig Wilkinson, while working as a bus girl at Macayo's Las Vegas on East Charleston. They married on March 14, 1970 at the age of 19.

Maria worked many types of jobs over the years. Early on she worked as a dealer at Slots of Fun and Circus Circus. She was a stay at home mom at times and she had a cleaning business. Maria really enjoyed working at Ethel M. Chocolate Factory, Dillard's, MJ Christensen, and Albertson's.

Maria was such a giving and forgiving soul, full of passion and love for people. She loved to talk with her family and friends and would make every effort to keep in close touch with everyone. Maria loved to bless others by making her delicious Mexican meals and bringing people together around the table. She also loved traveling and always tried to include others in her travels. Maria saw the world and did so mostly through cruising. Maria was the life of the party and her laughter and energy for life was an inspiration to many. Above all else, she had a deep faith and relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she lived passionately for her husband, kids, and grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her husband, Craig Wilkinson, of 51 years, and their daughter, Claudia Kintigh, and their son Craig Max Wilkinson; her eight grandsons, Isaiah Koufos, Cole Kintigh, Elijah Koufos, Aidan Koufos, Michael Kintigh, Wesley Kintigh, Ethan Wilkinson, and Evan Wilkinson.

Galaxy Quest... The movie, the MOVIE... not Maria's journey through life and heaven! If you ever had the chance to watch Galaxy Quest with Maria you were in for a treat. She had most scenes memorized:

"The red thingy is moving towards the green thingy."

and

"Hey don't open that! Its an alien planet. Is there air?! You don't know!"

I could go on, but when it came to family, friends, relationships, love and God, Maria was living out the most famous Galaxy Quest quote long before the movie was even a thought.

"Never give up, never surrender."

Just a quick reminder: We will all see Maria in Heaven again, and it is going to be great.

Thanks for everything Maria!

My favorite memory of Maria is when I spoke to her on the phone, she was such a wonderful person to speak to. She told me stories of her and her husband before they were married ❤.
Even though we never met face to face I think she is the most loving and amazing person. She has all of my love and respect ❤ She will be greatly missed ❤❤❤❤❤

My Lita has something special that I always cherished, aside from everytime she stopped from doing my daily activities to tell me about some cooking video on facebook or to give me a lecture about me not doing a recipe correctly but my most treasured memory of her is when she told me her life story including everything she did that day, I wish I could get those moments back because it's those moments of life that matter the most, even if they took up most of my day. I love you so so so much Lita

As soon as I had met Lita, I was able to tell where her family had received their confidence and dynamic characteristics. There was not a single moment where she did not make me feel welcomed. We had sat for hours speaking about natural medicine one time and it had reminded me of the time when I had my grandmother. She was very comforting and had made me feel apart of the family as soon as I had met her. Rest easy Lita.

Memories With Lita

As horrible as it may sound, I would alway enjoy making fun of people from afar with my Lita. “That guy looks exactly like Daffy Duck” or “look it’s Mr. Bean!” while grocery shopping was always just the funniest thing ever. Lita’s dry sense of humor was definitely passed down to me.

Over the summer, we used to spend the night at Lita’s house in pairs of two, watching movies and eating candy from Papa’s giant candy bucket thing on the bed at night and then going to the Rainbow Cafe place for breakfast in the morning. Aidan and Michael going together was strictly prohibited…

Continued...We used to have a dog named Zorro and every time Lita came through the door he would smile and run to her. He would go crazy! I liked all her meals too. I really miss her. I loved her so much but she is in heaven where there is no pain to anger no suffering and she's with her dad and Zorro and her mom and everyone. She lived a good life and I will always remember how she always called me "Amorrrrrt!" and would kiss my eyebrows and say "Sehas de polvoron"

I have always loved Lita so much and she always loved me. I have always called her Lita and I don't know how it started. Lita would always call me if my mommy and daddy didn't answer the phone. She would also give me money out of knowhere and she gives me change for my coin football. And almost every Sunday morning she would take us out for breakfast. Her and Papa came every Sunday. We also went on a lot of trips together. We've gone to Zion, San Diego, Brownsville, Mesquite, and Disneyland. Almost every Saturday morning she would call me and ask, "Is Daddy still sleeping?" and I would always say yes because he was. So she would ask me to put my watch against his ear and she'd say, "Ya levantata webon!" and he would go mmmmmm.

My best memory with Lita is well all of them! But the one that comes to my head first is of course the legendary Europe trip. We did so much and had so much fun in only a week. We shopped and ate, ate and shopped, I was in paradise. We slept in then got breakfast at the buffet on the cruise ship then we were off to adventure! We explored so much and took a lot of stops to restroom of course. We took many tours, pictures and bought tons of souvenirs. It was a dream come true and it wouldn’t have become a reality without my Lita.

One of my first memories of my aunt was when she invited the nephews/nieces (ages around 11-15) over to her home to watch Friday the 13th I/II on Friday the 13th. At that time, my younger brother and I slept on bunk beds but not that night, we were way too scared. We even slept with as many lights on. Somehow I could see her with a big smile and laughing that night and the next morning wondering how we all slept. This was her having fun with her nieces and nephews .

Tia Maria, there are so many wonderful memories I have of you. My most cherished memories are those of when I was young, spending time at your house. Your home was always a welcoming place full of family and friends. So many people's lives were touched by your welcoming spirit.
Tia was always trying to get me to try new foods and I always questioned everything she set in front of me. She would always answer with "its caca now eat it!" and I had no choice but to eat it. She took the time to teach me Spanish and would always test me.
There were times I remember Tia convincing my sister, Cassidy and I to brush her hair or rub her feet for a $1 while we watched a movie...
When I was 13, we went on a trip to Mexico with Tia, Uncle Craig, Claudia, Max and Laura. I enjoyed the time with Tia and all the fun things we did.
I love you Tia and will forever cherish the memories I have of you. I know you are with our Heavenly Father and look forward to the day we see each other again.

Love,
Tiffany aka Tiffy-Riffy (her nickname for me)
