Mariann was born in Shafter, CA in 1933 to Thomas and Dora Devlin. She was raised on an alfalfa and cotton farm working the land and tending to the livestock. She would tell stories of riding her horse to school and letting it loose to return home, swimming in the irrigation reservoir and winning blue ribbons at the Future Farmers of America competitions. She made lifelong friendships with many of her Shafter High School classmates and attended many of her class reunions. She met the love of her life, Robert J. Harrison in December 1952 and was married in Bakersfield, CA, 3 months later. They enjoyed a life-long romance until his passing in 2011.
Mariann dedicated her life to the care and wellbeing of all her family and friends. She has been described by those who knew her as a beautiful, compassionate, extremely generous and a vivacious little Irish woman. She and Robert enjoyed traveling and visiting family. Later in her life Mariann took up painting. And with the help of a wonderful mentor, she created a gallery of beautiful paintings. She gave each of her children and grandchildren a specially crafted painting made just for them.
Mariann is survived by her 3 children; Daughter Laura Lynn Dayton , son Robert Jeffrey Harrison and daughter Suzanne Dee McGowan and 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
