Marie was known for her kind heart and the joy she brought to others through her cooking, especially her well-loved spam musubi, fried rice, and California roll. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and games, gambling, bingo, and traveling. Over the years, she made many cherished friends—first in San Francisco, where she lived for many years, and later in Las Vegas, where her circle of friends grew even larger.
Marie loved helping out wherever she was. You could often find her washing dishes or cleaning up at someone else’s home, always looking for ways to lend a hand. She had a special way of making people feel cared for and welcomed, creating a sense of family wherever she went.
Marie’s steadfast devotion to her family was evident every day—her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, supporting them, watching them grow, and being present not only in their lives, but also in the lives of their friends and families.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Watanabe Yamzon, son-in-law Jesse Yamzon, grandchildren Justin and Jessica Yamzon. She is also remembered by many extended family members and dear friends who were blessed by her unwavering kindness and presence through every milestone.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
