

Marilyn Belle Glovinsky, 74, a speech pathologist, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016. She was born on January 20, 1942, in Brooklyn New York to Solomon and Lilyan Goldberg (nee Sendrow), a NYPD policeman and a NYC public school teacher. She lived in Brooklyn throughout her childhood, attending Lincoln Terrace Elementary School, Winthrop Junior High School, Wingate High School, and graduating from Brooklyn College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Theater. Marilyn married Marvin Glovinsky on May 31, 1964, in Brooklyn, NY, and then traveled with Marv on various U. S. Navy assignments, stationed in both Maryland and North Carolina. Upon completion of Marv’s military service, they settled in Salt Lake City, UT, then moving to Las Vegas, NV, where she has resided since 1974. She was a founding member of the Congregation Ner Tamid Synagogue where she remained active throughout her life. She was Ner Tamid’s “Congregant of the Year” for 1990. Primarily a speech therapist, Marilyn was also a school teacher, tax operations manager, medical practice office manager, stockbroker, and real estate agent. She was also the Sustaining President of the Junior League of Las Vegas. Marilyn is predeceased by her father. She is survived by her mother, Lilyan, now 102; daughter, Melissa (Todd) Lemoine; son, David (Heather) Glovinsky; brother, Lewis (Carolyn) Goldberg; five grandchildren , Shayna, Adin, Colton, Christopher and Cassidy; two nieces, Kimberly Goldberg (Marco) Cooper and her son Javon Trice, and Shellee Goldberg; three cousins, Elissa Beer, Barbara Getzell, and Lauren (Floyd) Rogers; Mary Alice Jones, her dear friend and exceptional caregiver since 2008; and countless expanded family and friends. Marilyn fought a great fight after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer in 2006. Over the next ten years, her quality of life had diminished but she endured to see two grandchildren born and to witness her granddaughter’s Bat Mitzvah. She was surrounded by loving friends and family throughout her life. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
