

Marilyn Sue Barnett-Simmons-Kessinger, 72, was called home on Friday, December 14, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Dallas Eugene Barnett and Mabel Marie Stearns. She was raised in Zeigler, Illinois, by Dallas and Marcelle Snider-Barnett—her “Momma and Daddy”. She was married to the late Charles Adelbert Simmons, and in April 2007, she married Jimmy Vondell Kessinger. After marrying in 2007, Sue’s family grew as she inherited 9 children, 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Sue was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she enjoyed shopping, playing the piano, singing, traveling, but her greatest joy of all was spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles, and her son, Timothy Scott. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy; daughter Tamara (Darryl) Minton; son Tod Simmons; grandchildren Jessica, Jordan, Cody, Timothy and Kade; great-grandson Mavrick; her Marcelle "Momma" Barnett; and David (Diane) Fenner and his family Derrick and Dustin. Sue will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. A visitation will be held on December 22, 2012 from 11-12am, followed by a funeral service from 12:00-2:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Robindale Chapel on 7670 S. Bruce Street, Las Vegas, Nevada. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Eastern Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
