MarJa K. Beal embraced every day of her 78 years, wearing many hats including career woman, travel enthusiast, foodie, and artist, with her most treasured role being that of wife, mother and grandmother.
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 6, 1939 to Margaret and Jay Rideout, MarJa’s name was a combination of her parent’s first names. She spent her childhood years there, along with younger sister Janice. Soon after graduating from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Loal Beal, in August of 1957 and remained happily married until his death in 2008. Loal and MarJa had two daughters, Stefanie and Brandi.
Being raised on the values of working hard and being a productive member of society, MarJa worked throughout her adult life, beginning in high school as an operator for the local phone company. After she and Loal married, she continued to work off and on while raising their daughters in Utah. In 1974, the family moved to Jackson Hole, WY, where she worked for Continental Construction for 16 years. In 1990, they moved to St George, Utah where she enjoyed a career as a corporate officer for C-mart for 18 years. Following the passing of her husband, MarJa moved to Idaho with daughter Stefanie and son-in-law Danny. After a brief stay there, the three relocated to Las Vegas, NV, where Stefanie and Danny previously lived.
MarJa had a quick-witted sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. She had a zest for life and spent many hours online planning vacations, with a special emphasis placed on seeking out restaurants to dine at during road trips (she loved to eat!). While traveling was a cherished activity, MarJa had other loves including the music of the Rat Pack, giraffes, dark chocolate and her extensive Christmas Village collection.
After a brief and valiant battle with cancer, MarJa returned to her heavenly home on February 3, 2018. She will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
