Marvella Stringfellow Forte

Marvella Natha Stringfellow Forte' was born on August 31, 1957 and graduated to be with the Lord on June 11, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was the only child of Floyd N. Stringfellow and Minnie Alfred Stringfellow in Houston, Texas.

At an early age, Marvella was baptized at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Houston, Texas. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, Houston, Texas and Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas. She pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority while at Prairie View and is a life member.

After graduation, she was employed briefly by the Houston Independent School District.

Marvella joined the Houston Police Department on January 28, 1980 Academy Class #90. During her tenure with the department, she was assigned to the Southwest Division, Southeast Division, Jail Division, Juvenile Division, Training Division, Organizational Development Command, and the Internal Affairs Division. Marvella retired on June 1, 2000. After retirement, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.

On May 30, 1987 Marvella married the love of her life, Woodrow Forte'. They are the proud parents of their only daughter, Marwood Leatrice Forte'. She and Woodrow had a wonderful marriage and enjoyed the life and home that they made for themselves and their daughter. Following their retirement, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Marvella was a member of Remnant Ministries.

Marvella was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and other family members.

She is survived by her husband, Woodrow "Woody" Forte'; their daughter, Marwood Leatrice Forte'; aunts: Jean Alfred Perry and Shirley Alfred Johnson; her first cousins, sisters-in law, brothers-in law, nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
