

Marvin Myron Ross, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, from complications of Alzheimer's. He was born May 10, 1925, in Cleveland, to Oscar H. and Celia (Doinwich) Ross. Marvin graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, class of 1943. Following graduation, he attended U.S. Army Air Forces Pre-Flight School (pilot) and graduated as a lieutenant in May 1944. He then obtained his diploma from the 60th Army Air Forces Flying Detachment in August 1944 and went on to serve with the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a second lieutenant until Nov. 2, 1945, when he was honorably discharged. After the war, he returned to Cleveland, and married Barbara F. Hoffman; they had three children. Marvin worked for the Charles Corporation until 1971. The family moved to Phoenix to be closer to Barbara's family. In early 1974, he moved to Las Vegas to work for Caesars Palace, where he spent 25 years. During that time, he married Erika S. Chesebrough. After a brief retirement, he started a consulting business and was offered a position with Casino MonteLago. In addition to his work, Marvin enjoyed golf, photography and his friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Irving; and his wives, Barbara and Erika. He is survived by his daughter, Cydney Ross of Phoenix; son, Robin Ross and his wife, Chollaphan, of Bangkok, Thailand; his son, Tracy Ross, and his wife, Susan, of Las Vegas, and their children, Justin and Alyssa; longtime companion, Adeline Tangredi of Las Vegas; and stepchildren, David Chesebrough, Leslie Chesebrough-Mihalko and Douglas Chesebrough.
