Mary C Campanaro (Fucarino), age 96, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025. Born on May 30, 1929, in Niagara Falls, New York, Mary graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1947. She worked for many years as a professional secretary at Occidental Petroleum in Niagara Falls. She worked a second job as a waitress at banquet halls.
In 1979, Mary made the move to Las Vegas to be closer to her daughters, Linda and Paula. There, she continued her career at Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Company at the Nevada Test Site and built a new chapter filled with love, laughter, and community.
Mary was deeply proud of her Italian heritage and was a lifelong member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America as well as the Catholic Daughters of America. A woman with a heart for others, she generously supported many charities throughout her life and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She had a great love for card games—especially pinochle—and was a true “card shark” among friends and family. In her retirement community at Montara Meadows, she enthusiastically taught her neighbors how to play the game Hand and Foot, quickly becoming a favorite among her fellow residents.
Mary spent her final days in the care of a warm and loving group home. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to family.
She is survived by her daughters Linda (Dave) Murtaugh and Paula (John) Brekke; grandchildren Darren (Melissa) Murtaugh, Brian (Stephanie) Murtaugh, John Murtaugh, Patricia (Nicholas) Occhipinti, and Kevin Brekke; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa (Costanza) and Vincenzo Fucarino; her sisters Verna Henschel, Anne DiMarco, and Dorothy Coscia; her brothers Eugene and David Fucarino; and her former husband Paul Campanaro.
