I still miss seeing the wave and smiling face that Mary Lou gave every time I came through the gate, no matter how many times I came in and out throughout the day, and the short visits we got to have. We were very lucky to have known her!

I’m heartbroken over the loss of my beautiful cousin Marylu. We were So close thru the yrs. Everybody thought we were sisters. We looked alike, laught alike. Thought a like. We were truly loving cousins. As Marylu always told me I love u to pieces. She will be in my heart & prayers forever.  Sending my love & prayers to Pete, Richard & Anthony & all of her family . MaryLu was a character. A loud booming laugh and a lot of love flowed out of her, all the time. She had an ability to make you feel special just in a conversation. And those conversations....without boundaries! She freely shared and gave unheeded advice, but it came with love and experience. 

She loved her grandchildren without reservation. Loved her children. Loved her husband. She will be greatly missed and I hope the numerous wonderful memories over the years will bring comfort to her family. 

My first memory of Marylu was when I was a young girl.  We went to her house in celebration and preparation of  Deb and Rich’s upcoming wedding.  She made such a positive impression on me that day that I carried with me for life.  I was a shy and somewhat sheltered child but she was so warm, welcoming and loving and I had never met anyone like her.  I was intrigued and delighted!  Her boisterous and welcoming personality, her adorable Yorkies, her home decor and food spread, and her fashion style opened my young eyes to a person and style and way of being that I didn’t know existed and have always admired and held onto since that very first memory of her .  As I have grown older and continued to know her through family events over the years, she was always the same delightful and admirable person I met as a young girl.  She probably never new what a large and positive impact she had on me, just by being her.   I’m sure she did the same for countless others.  I am grateful for the opportunity to have known her and grateful for the positive influence she had on my life.   I hope to continue to incorporate her style of being into my life.

My condolences. Marylu was such a big personality with so much energy. Her vibrance is something I will never forget. 

We are heartbroken that we won’t see MaryLu’s big wave & smile when we come home to Renaissance. We will especially miss her driving the neighborhood with her flashing yellow light on the top of her car on Halloween. We sat outside to welcome the kids & MaryLu never failed to stop every round & visit. 
We loved  MaryLu & are missing her terribly. 

My name is Keishia Gu, and my parents are Gary and JoAnn Kemp, who live in the Renaissance community where MaryLu dedicated so much of her time and service. I live in Los Angeles with my husband and daughter, so I know her from afar. Every time I would drive into Las Vegas to visit my family--MaryLu warmly greeted me if she was at the gate. 

I got to know her mostly through my parents' fond and humorous stories of her. I was jealous of their Thanksgiving experiences with your family and I “so” wanted to make her Italian meatballs one day. 

When I learned that I was expected my first child in 2018, I was so overwhelmed to start seeing periodic packages that would show up with beautiful outfits, singing ducks, puzzles, and holiday ornaments. Sometimes, I'd have to ask my parents--was this from MaryLu because it was such a surprise. 

It just shows the kind of giving human being that she was. She had a heart bigger than I could have imagined. I am literally the adult daughter of friends that lived in the community where she worked, but she treated my parents, and my child like her family.  

I'm glad that my daughter was able to meet MaryLu this past January. I couldn't wait to take her to MaryLu's gatehouse and surprise her. I will never forget the look on her face when she saw us standing at her door. My 2-year-old immediately took to MaryLu and they shared crackers and cream cheese. I tried to stop my daughter from double-dipping, but MaryLu said, "Stop it. She can do whatever she wants to do with Grandma Russo!" 

She will always be Grandma Russo to us. I cared very deeply about her, and I will miss her. My prayers, thoughts, and healing light go out to her family. Grandma Russo made me feel like a part of your family. Thank you for sharing her with so many people, who loved her. She was a wonderful and beautiful treasure. May she rest and peace. And may memories provide comfort, healing, and strength. 


So sorry to hear the tragic news.  MaryLu was one of a kind.  She always said to the girls, “I love you so much, it makes my heart sing (insert singing).” It always made me smile and I will think of the joy in her heart every time I see Rebecca or Jessica. She will be missed.  My deepest condolences at this difficult time.

Throughout our worldly travels, we've never met anyone more kind and loving as MaryLu.  From our first meeting, she touched our hearts as she did for so many others.  Not only did she welcome us into the community, but also into her family.  Thanksgivings will never be the same without her.  To Pete, Anthony, Richard and all the Russo family, thank you for sharing her beautiful life with the rest of us.  We will always cherish her memory.

Marylou was the soul of our community. She will be sorely missed by my husband and myself.  Her cheerful attitude and gleaming smile was contagious.  May she Rest In Peace.

How do you say good bye to a true friend. I had the pleasure of working with Marylu for over 8 years. When I would visit her at work, a 15 minute stop would end up being hours of us gossiping and laughing at ourselves in our old age. I will sincerely miss you. 

Marylu has been a part of our family for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid I knew she was special. I feel incredibly lucky to have known her. She lit up every room she walked in to with her beautiful smile & big, bright eyes. She had a way about her that could make you laugh out loud at the simplest story. She was a one of a kind lady & will be missed by so many. There will never be a shortage of Marylu stories to tell. Sending deepest condolences to everyone that loved her. 

My condolences.  MaryLu was alway fun to talk with. I loved her honest, brazen approach to life. I will miss her. Rest In Peace.  

Pete May God bless you and your family thru your sorrow. May you all get some comfort knowing Mary lu is at peace. and may thinking of the good times help you thru your sorrow. Mary lu , Pete and I had some good laughs. She is missed. When I look up to the sky from the guard house I smile knowing she is not suffering and at peace.
