OBITUARY

Maximilian Bertram Bryer

January 21, 1922June 16, 2020

Maximilian Bryer, 98, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, surrounded by members of his family. Born on January 21, 1922 in Flint, MI, Max was one of four children of European immigrants. And, over the next eleven decades, his life experiences would take him on quite a journey. He would become a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps where he fought for our country in World War II. He would receive a Master’s degree in English from the University of Michigan – a degree that would help him land a job with the DuMont Network Television in New York City as a Floor Manager. Max would find television his passion, and it would be his focus for the next 40 years of his life. He would go on to CBS, where he rose to become a Director. And, ultimately, his journey took him to the glittering lights of Hollywood, as a Vice President at Benton & Bowles, where he was a Producer & Director of television commercials and daytime Soap Operas for which his work won him an Emmy. His was a true American story. In many ways, Max personified the virtues of a true American hero. He had conviction, valued the truth, and always saw the best in things and people. Max touched many lives over the years and the resounding sentiment from everyone who knew him was that he was ‘bigger than life!’ His smile would light up a room and when he spoke to you, he made you feel like you were the single most important person in the world. Max will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on July 17, 2020 at 12:40PM, PST. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith, daughter Samantha Bryer and her significant other H. Gordon Diamond, daughter Victoria Dade, son in law Rick Dade, grandchildren Benjamin and Nathan Dade. Contributions in Max’s name can be made to the following organization: St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Conquer Childhood Cancers, https://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/126867/2020
