

Mersine "Marcia" Mercer, 84, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on December 15, 2024 in ProCare Hospice after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on January 12, 1940 in New York City, NY. After school, Mersine worked as a telephone operator in Brooklyn, NY. She met her future husband when they were both sixteen. He played guitar and sang in a band. Mersine was a fan of Elvis Presley and so Eddie made sure to play his music. In 1960, she married Edward A. Mercer when they were 20-years old and moved to Woodbridge, VA and had two children. They were married for almost 54 years. Towards the end of the 1970's, the family relocated to Las Vegas, NV. Mersine worked for several years at Westward Ho Casino. She collected old and new postcards and dolls. She enjoyed reading biographies and doing word search puzzles. Mersine was friendly with a sense of humor who enjoyed getting together with others. She was a loving, vibrant and energetic individual. Mersine is survived by her daughter Wendy K. Elia; son-in-law Raymond Elia; two grandsons Antonio and Joseph; sister Teresa Stratis; and several beloved cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward A. Mercer; son Wade E. Mercer; grandson Vincent Elia; parents John Sideris and Katherine Stratis; stepfather Steve K. Stratis; and brother Constantine "Dino" Stratis. Private arrangements made with Palm Eastern Mortuary.
