It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our father Michael Caruso Jr.
Michael Caruso, Jr., age 94, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026.
Born in Hicksville, New York to the late Michael Caruso, Sr. and Rose Adessio Caruso, he is preceded in death by his three older sisters (Rose, Frances and Florence); older brother (Louis); their son, Christopher, and his great granddaughter, Gianna.
Michael Caruso was a precision machinist for Grumman Corporation for 30 years, working on many important projects, including the Apollo Lunar Lander Programs (LEM). He also established Micar Fabrication and Design Company in 1958, producing custom aircraft, military and prototype parts for companies like Sperry, Fairchild Camera, Aircraft Specialties, Sikorsky Helicopter and NASA. He took great pride in having machined parts that now sit on the surface of the moon in the Lunar Module ( LEM), years after the 1969 Apollo 11 Mission.
Upon his retirement from Grumman in 1987, he moved to Las Vegas and relocated the Micar Fabrication operation which today has over 65 years of history dating back to its founding in Long Island, New York in 1958. In 1993, his son Brian joined him in partnership to build the business and achieve new milestones. Together, they established The Caruso Racing Museum on the 2nd floor of the Micar facility, a private automotive collection dedicated to celebrating the history of midget and sprint car racing and the Caruso family's deep roots in auto racing and early race car building.
A longtime parishioner of Saint Joseph Husband of Mary Church in Las Vegas and Our Lady of Las Vegas, Michael Caruso cherished his commitment to daily Mass with the many faithful friends he met there. He was proud of his service in the Korean War, having earned the Army’s Combat Infantryman’s Badge for his service on the front lines. He often recalled with reverence the many veterans he worked alongside who never made it back.
Michael has four surviving sons: David (Linda), Michael (Cathy), Brian (Maureen), and Glen. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
