Michael went to Advanced Technology Academy for High School and UNLV for Criminal Justice. He loved sports. His teams were the San Francisco 49ers, SF Giants, San Jose Sharks, and the Golden State Warriors. He hung out with his best friend, Joey, watching all sports every Sunday and every other day. Michael would go and eat every Friday with this sister, Jennifer and Joey. He loved to bet on sports, any sport.
He played the last man standing football bet. He told us when he had made it to the last 5. Mike, Joey and I worked his games every Sunday. Then he got down to four people left. Mike would get so nervous he would leave or go into the bathroom. Joey and I would watch the game to the end and run down the hall when his team won. There were only two people left for two weeks. Mike and I would go check every Monday. The last week he made his bet. His team won. We went to Green Valley and found out he had won. He was so excited. He had played this pool since he was 21. He won in 2017. We were all very happy for him.
At one of his jobs, he worked very hard and saved enough money to take a year off and tried to become a gambler. He made it…11 months. Then he had to go back to work. He got a job at FEA Consulting Engineers in Henderson. He worked there for about 14 years. Michael started out as a runner and ended up as the Controller. He made many good friends at work. He started to go hiking and fishing…the last two years he had a lot of fun with his life.
I was very happy to see him enjoying himself and doing things he had never done before. Michael was a gentle giant. I don’t know what I did to get a good son as good as he was. He was such a good kid. If you needed help, he would drop everything and help you. Mike would give you the shirt off his back. He was a very hard worker and he shined at work. I can’t say enough good things about him other than he was awesome and one of a kind.
We would have family dinners on Wednesday and Saturdays. We would watch Jeopardy every night and he was smarter than all of us. He will be missed in so many ways. I just want him to know how much I have loved him my whole life. He left very big shoes to fill.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Palm Eastern Mortuary.
