Mildred Whitehead, beloved teacher in Las Vegas as a 1st and 2nd teacher for many years at Paradise Elementary school, she died of natural causes in her sleep at the age of 87. Born in the Netherlands, Mildred was educated at the New England Conservatory of Music as a concert pianist but found her true calling when she began substitute teaching in California. From then on, Mrs. Whitehead, as she became known, spent her days filled with joy. She was married to David R Whitehead (deceased). They had three children. Her youngest, Steven J Whitehead, predeceased her. She is survived by son, Dave, and daughter, Deborah. Mildred had seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Most of her 100 cousins and second cousins are scattered throughout the Netherlands and many enjoyed their visits to Las Vegas.
