Miriam was born on August 2, 1947 in Havana, Cuba, daughter to the late Pedro Moreno and Patria Barceló. With courage and hope for a brighter future, Miriam immigrated to the United States at 14 years old. First arriving in New York City in 1962, then moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1969 to join her mother and sister. Miriam spent many decades in Las Vegas, Nevada, with her family having briefly relocated to Buckeye, Arizona for their retirement. She returned to Las Vegas after her beloved husband's passing.
Those who knew Miriam will remember her unrelenting generosity, love of cooking and music, and impeccable sense of style - no matter the occasion. She was a devoted and vigilant wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor whose thoughtfulness touched countless lives, including the hospital nursing staff in her final days.
Miriam is preceded in death by her husband of almost 36 years, Ronald, and her sister Maria Grafiada Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Annabelle and her husband Jack Vergiels, and Lauren Castro; her beloved grandchildren, Steven Vergiels, Erik Vergiels, McKenna and her husband Brian Barry, Olivia Vergiels, and Adriel Castro.
