Las Vegas has quietly lost a piece of its golden past with the passing of Moise Hamaoui, who departed this world on May 13, 2025, at the age of 87, a devoted father, uncle, and charismatic pillar of his family, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 13, 2025, just one day after returning home from the hospital.
Born on January 4, 1938, Moise came to Las Vegas from Italy in the early 1960s, when the city was still stretching into its future and The Strip was young. His charisma could never be replicated. For over 60 years, Moise made Las Vegas his home, and in many ways, helped shape the story of the city through quiet acts of generosity, charm, and resilience.
He was a man of substance and style—a salesman by trade, a singer by heart. His voice easily floated with notes of Mediterranean song that frequently shared his love for music and entertainment with those around him.
He found a home not in the spotlight, but in the quiet rhythm of everyday life—working, raising family, and offering steady support to those around him. Somehow, Las Vegas seemed to shape itself around his warm presence, and though he never sought attention, his influence quietly lingered and was civically rewarded during his working years by the city.
Moise opened his doors and his heart to many, helping relatives begin new lives, guiding them through school, and offering the kind of care that asks for nothing in return.
He was the last of his siblings, and the final of 52 first cousins—a generation’s closing chapter.
Though his life was deeply private, his presence was unforgettable. Those who ever met him, would never forget.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marguerite , originally from Switzerland, whose memory remained his quiet companion through the years. His daughter, Patrizia and his nephew Jonathan Fried of San Francisco, both of whom were present and attending to his services. Relatives across the globe, though unable to travel, mourn his passing deeply.
The Hamaoui family grieves the loss of a man whose strength came with a volume of devotion and gentle humor, and that familiar old world way. Private services were held in accordance with the family’s wishes.
