

COL. MORTON ORZEN U.S. Air Force, Retired Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Morton David Orzen, 81, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 18, 2011. He was born May 7, 1930, in New York, N.Y., and was an 18-year resident of Nevada. Mort flew as a navigator, later served as base commander and retired after 27 years of service as inspector general. After his military service, he launched a second career as a middle school teacher, first in Utah and then in Nevada at The Meadows School and The Hebrew Academy. After his second retirement, Mort was active as a volunteer for several hospitals, neighborhood security, and the Civil Air Patrol. He was a proud founding member of the 98th Air Refueling Squadron Veterans Association, and he and his wife, Rickie, enjoyed traveling each year to reunions around the country. Mort is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Rickie; brother, Bill; three children, Laurie, Michael and Matthew; five grandchildren, Paul, Ryan, Jennifer, Annie and Jacob; six great-grandchildren, Braxton, Jaden, Ryan, Tessa, Asher and Liam; and his dog, Hannah. Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at King David Mortuary, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow at 10:40 a.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Wounded Warriors Project at www.support.woundedwarrioreproject.org
