She is survived by her brother James (Matilda) of New Jersey and her sister Linda of Hawaii. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.
Myrna is preceded in death by her long time companion and sister Mabel, and her sister Violet.
Myrna was born on November 11, 1940 to parents Floyd and Lucy Loy, in Queens, New York. The family worked hard to raise their 5 children, and all went on to go to college and become successful in their professions. Myrna was selected early on as a stellar student, and obtained a PhD in Chemistry, becoming a well respected chemical engineer.
During her career she invented several items, and she would always talk about her hand in developing the first chemical light sticks. Myrna traveled the world as a troubleshooter for chemical companies. She had to compete in a very male dominated industry in those years. However Myrna would quickly tell you that she would gain their respect because of her knowledge. She took pride in the fact that in Japan she would be considered an equal in a room of all men in the chemical industry.
Myrna retired to Henderson, Nevada in 1999, along with her sister Mabel. They enjoyed traveling and exploring the west during their retirement. Mabel became ill, and Myrna became her caretaker until her passing in September of 2024.
No funeral is planned, instead there will be a small ceremony at the family plot at Pinelawn Cemetery on Long Island NY.
