Dr. Nicoletta Ann Campagna passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, after a courageous and noble struggle with Mullerian ovarian cancer. She was delivered from this life peacefully and surrounded by her family at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nevada. “Nikki” was born on March 19, 1954, in Kenosha, Wisconsin to the late Chester and Mary (DiCello) Richie. Nikki was a curious individual who valued intellectual pursuit and education with the goal of employing it to compassionately care for others. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and then achieved her Associates and Undergraduate degrees, respectively, from Gateway Technical College and Ladysmith College. She took this knowledge and stalwartly served as a registered nurse at Kenosha Memorial Hospital for over three decades. While working as a nurse, Nikki then attained a Master of Business Administration degree from Marquette University and, later, a Master of Science in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin. Finally, she achieved a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Concordia while working as a nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, she primarily focused on oncology. She worked for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Midwest Regional Medical Center, in Zion, Illinois. While living in Henderson, Nikki worked for Optum Care Cancer Care and Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada. Nikki’s dedication to being a physician and, specifically, to treating and researching cancer was more than a job—it was a vocation. After her brother-in-law passed from an unfortunate struggle with pancreatic cancer, she devoted herself to volunteering with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Las Vegas chapter and committed herself to raising public awareness for this disease and to fundraising for research for pancreatic cancer treatment. In retirement, she then served as a patient advocate and consultant for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Nikki was a healer and caregiver through and through.
The passion Nikki brought to her work as a physician suffused itself into the rest of her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, daughter, sister, colleague, and friend. She loved food and cooking and loved to explore new restaurants and recipes. In retirement, she also worked as a consultant for Pampered Chef, selling cookware and hosting kitchenware sales parties. She greatly enjoyed meeting people and making new friends. She was a loyal and kind friend who loved to host people, sharing hospitality when she could. Her son Ryan’s friends remember her as a “like a second mom to all of us.” Nikki was a traveler and an enthusiast for seeing new places: she spent time doing voluntary medical work in Nigeria and India, in addition to vacationing in Europe, Central America, and the Caribbean. She was unafraid to challenge herself physically and mentally. Nikki took days-long walks for charity and even went sky-diving; she loved to move. She also knew how to relax and have fun. She loved to vacation and lay back on the beach in Hawaii with a fruity beverage. She loved martinis and a nice glass of wine! She was an avid reader and a member of multiple book clubs. She was an ardent sports fan and an aficionado most especially of Golden Knights’ hockey and Wisconsin Badgers’ football and basketball.
Nikki is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law Antonio “Tony;” and sister-in-law Jean. She is survived by her loving husband Ken; her caring sister Angela; her son Ryan, her stepsons Paul (Kristine) and Brian (Jennifer); her nieces Lisa and Michelle (Robert); her grandchildren Josh, Corey, Zach, Ella, Emerson, and Caleb; her great nieces and nephew Kloe, Madison, and Nathan; and her great grandson Landon.
A gathering of Nikki’s family and friends will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Community Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson, Nevada 89074 with a funeral mass at the aforementioned church to follow at 1:30 p.m. A committal service will then be held at 3:00 p.m. at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89074. A luncheon at Wildhorse Golf Club will follow the committal service.
