Ofelia Samaniego Gallant

With love and gratitude for a life filled with adventure, perseverance, and faith, the family announces the peaceful passing of Ofelia Samaniego Gallant, who entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at her home in Henderson, Nevada. She was 77 years old.

Born on May 25, 1949, in Altura, Santa Mesa, Manila, Philippines, Ofelia was the second youngest of five children. From a young age, she possessed a vibrant personality, a love of music, and a determination that would guide her throughout her life. At the age of sixteen, she began her career as a professional singer at the renowned Alex Soda Fountain in the Philippines. Encouraged by her mother, who managed her early career, Ofelia became known for her beautiful voice and engaging stage presence, bringing joy to audiences through her performances.

Following her marriage to a member of the United States military, Ofelia embarked on a life of travel that took her from the Philippines to Thailand, California, Germany, Spain, and other parts of Europe. She embraced each new chapter with curiosity, resilience, and an adventurous spirit.

After returning to the United States, Ofelia worked for AAA Insurance before building a successful career with Ben Bridge Jewelers. As a manager and gemologist, she earned a reputation for professionalism, dedication, and exceptional leadership. When asked to lead a struggling Sacramento location, she transformed it into one of the company’s most successful stores through hard work, determination, and genuine care for both her customers and colleagues.

In 2016, Ofelia met Wayne Gallant, beginning a relationship that brought companionship, laughter, and renewed happiness. After three years together, they were married and shared seven wonderful years filled with travel, friendship, and faith. Together they returned to the Philippines, explored Vietnam, traveled with Wayne’s fellow veterans, and ultimately made their home in Henderson, Nevada. They were devoted parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Those who knew Ofelia will remember her adventurous heart and joyful spirit. She found peace in tending her gardens, enjoyed bowling with friends, and was famous for her remarkable “lucky hand” at the casino. Family and friends often marveled at her uncanny ability to choose a winning machine, a gift she accepted with a smile and a laugh.

Ofelia is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Gallant; her children, Alexander Gordon, and his wife, Rhodora “Dodai” Gordon, Kristine Gordon, and Noel Gordon; her grandchildren, Joel Gordon and Aron Gordon; her stepchildren, Sandra Gallant-Jones, Richard Gallant, and Michael Gallant; and extended family and friends in both the United States and the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings, and her second husband, Art Johansson.

Ofelia’s life was one of courage, reinvention, and embracing new beginnings. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice, her adventurous spirit, her strong work ethic, and the joy she found in life’s everyday moments.

One of Wayne’s favorite photographs of Ofelia was taken during their travels in Vietnam. It captures her smiling brightly, embracing another adventure, and enjoying the journey they shared together. It is the image he will forever carry in his heart - a reflection of the woman whose warmth, resilience, and love of life touched all who knew her.

Wayne and the family extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has offered prayers, kindness, and support during this time of loss.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada. A Funeral Mass celebrating Ofelia’s life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada. Interment at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery will follow on a later date.
