

The fourth of eight siblings, she was born on March 29, 1937 in Tarlac, Philippines, to Eusebio and Nieves de Guzman Lim. She married Luis Marquez on June 22, 1968.
Ofelia received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing from Santo Thomas University in the Philippines in 1959. She worked as a Maternal Nursing Instructor and OR Nurse in the Philippines before coming to the United States in 1965 as part of the Nurse Exchange Program, working at several Chicago area hospitals, and finally working for Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for 27 years until her retirement in 2001. Luis and Ofelia then moved to Henderson, NV in 2002.
Ofelia's life calling and passion was to care for others, evident by her 41 total years in nursing, as well as being the primary caregiver for her husband Luis and her older sister Herminia in their later years. Ofelia loved gardening, knitting, sewing, singing as part of the church choir, spending time with and traveling the world with family and friends, and, more so in her retirement years, drawing and painting.
She is survived by her two brothers, Eusebio (Seb) and Ruben; her sister Jesusa (Sue); her two sons, Mark and Christian; and her three grandchildren, Elena, Justin, and Sofia.
Visitation services will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, June 17, 2024 at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery. Funeral mass will be at 9:30am, June 18, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Commitment ceremony to follow the funeral mass at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery.
