Patricia “Patti” Ann (Maguinness) Bliss, age 79, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026.
Patti was born on July 19, 1947, in Peekskill, New York, to Raymond Edward Maguinness and Roseanne Elizabeth (Wassily) Maguinness, both of whom preceded her in death. At the age of five, she moved with her family to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she grew up, attended school, built her career, and created a lifetime of treasured memories.
Patti attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and later graduated from Bishop Gorman High School. During her school years, she was active in her church and community. She sang in the grammar school choir, performing at Midnight Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and joining fellow students in singing Christmas carols at hospitals and retirement homes. As a teenager, she volunteered as a Candy Striper, dedicating her time to helping others and demonstrating the caring spirit that would define her throughout her life.
Patti’s life changed forever in 1963 when a young man named Steve Bliss moved in across the street. What began as neighbors quickly grew into a friendship, and then into a love story that would span a lifetime. As high school sweethearts, they built a relationship founded on trust, laughter, friendship, and unwavering devotion to one another.
They were married on June 10, 1967, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, followed by a reception at the Sands Hotel. Patti and Steve shared a remarkable marriage built on deep love, loyalty, and companionship. They were truly devoted to one another and enjoyed spending their lives side by side, whether entertaining family and friends, traveling, or simply enjoying everyday moments together. From spending time on Lake Mead with family and friends, water skiing and boating aboard their beloved Donzi speedboat to going on skiing adventures in places like Park City and Vail to driving their Corvette around town, to spending any opportunity at Solana Beach they could, they were always looking for ways to enjoy life together and embark on new adventures. Their home was always warm and welcoming, reflecting the love they shared.
Together, they became the beloved aunt and uncle everyone adored. They never missed an opportunity to celebrate the people they loved and created family traditions that continue to this day. To those fortunate enough to know them, Patti and Steve embodied what a loving partnership should be. For forty years, they built a life rich with memories, laughter, and family. When Steve passed away on June 30, 2007, Patti lost the love of her life, but she carried him in her heart every day thereafter. Their bond remained an enduring part of who she was, and she often spoke of Steve with the same affection and love she always had.
Following high school, Patti began her career with Central Telephone Company. She later joined Caesars Palace while the iconic resort was still under construction, serving as a hotel guide before its grand opening. Patti went on to work at the front desk and helped open the VIP Lounge, where she welcomed distinguished guests, high-profile gamblers, entertainers, and celebrities. She later worked for a company that organized tours to Las Vegas from cities across the country, including New York, Newark, Miami, and other major Florida destinations. After the MGM Grand Hotel fire led to the closure of that business, Patti returned to Caesars Palace, where she worked in VIP Services until her retirement. Throughout her years at Caesars, Patti had the opportunity to meet and assist notable figures including Tom Cruise, Michael Landon, Magic Johnson, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Elton John, and her personal favorite, Helen Mirren. Her dedication and skill was also recognized by her peers and supervisors by being named Employee of the Month several times.
Her years in the hospitality industry were a perfect match for her warm personality, attention to detail, and gift for making everyone feel special, whether they were world-famous celebrities or treasured members of her own family.
Family was the center of Patti’s world. Patti loved cooking and baking and hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings for decades. Her holiday table was always beautifully arranged with fine china, crystal, and gold plated cutlery.
A cherished tradition began when she invited her nieces to enjoy pumpkin pie and watch movies on her bed while wearing matching Christmas pajamas she had thoughtfully provided. Nearly forty years later, that tradition continues, lovingly carried on by her nieces and their families.
Patti never missed an opportunity to celebrate the people she loved. Whether attending birthday parties, sporting events, graduations, or weddings in Las Vegas, Reno, Denver, Chicago, and beyond, she was always there to support family and friends. She loved dressing up, taking cruises, visiting the beach, and enjoying life’s special moments. A devoted sports fan, Patti faithfully cheered on her beloved Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers, celebrating their victories and following them throughout the years.
Known for her impeccable taste, Patti appreciated the finer things in life, from food and wine to fashion, entertaining, and beautifully decorated tables. She pursued excellence in everything she did and took pride in creating memorable experiences for those around her. Halloween was especially dear to her, and she delighted neighborhood children each year by baking and sharing homemade cookies.
Perhaps most of all, Patti will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to others. She was the person who showed up when someone needed help, offered comfort when times were difficult, and celebrated every milestone with genuine joy. Before illness limited her ability to do so, Patti was always there for everyone who needed her. Her loving heart touched countless lives, and the traditions she created will continue to bring family together for generations to come.
Patti was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Bliss; her parents, Raymond Edward Maguinness and Roseanne Maguinness; her sister, Sharon Parr; her mother-in-law, Betty Cohen; and her father-in-law, Jack Cohen.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy; her brothers, Tom and Chris; her cousin, Bettylou; her brother-in-law, Doug; her sister-in-law, Bonnie; her nieces, Angelina (Mark), Celeste (Sara), Carissa, Tara, Brianna (James), Alanna, Amanda (Ryan); her nephews, Andy (Anna) and Beau; her great-nieces Nora and most recently Lucy and Emily, twin sisters who shared Patti’s July 19th birthday; her great-nephew Elliot; and her beloved godson, Jason, and his daughter, Bella.
Though deeply missed, Patti’s legacy of love, generosity, family traditions, and joyful living will continue through all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
"To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die."
