

Paul Kam, 81, passed away on Thursday, 4/27/23 after battling Alzheimers dementia and complications from a fall for several months. Paul was born in mainland China on October 11, 1941 to Chuek Tung and Fong Kar-Po Kam. His parents and a sister proceeded him in death.
Paul attended Salesian High School in Hong Kong, graduating in 1959. He then attended the School of Architectural Engineering, Cheng Kung University in Taiwan on a full scholarship until 1962.
In the summer of 1962, he emigrated to the United States. He attended the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Fine Arts, on a full scholarship. He graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He passed his Registration exams in 1972 in both New York and Pennsylvania.
During his career he worked for various firms in Seattle, New York, and Pennsylvania. He opened his own firm in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1974. His architectural practice was all inclusive. He designed multiple projects from private homes to manufacturing plants. He also taught drafting at Triangle Tech in Erie and Pittsburgh. In 1999, he and his wife moved to the Baltimore, Maryland where he was hired as a Senior Architect with the State of Maryland Department of Transportation.
Paul retired in 2007 and relocated to Henderson. During retirement he enjoyed traveling around the US and also overseas. He volunteered at Three Square Food bank and Friends in the Desert. He was active in the Sun City Anthem Hiking club and Wood Chips club.
Paul was a strong, kind man who will be missed deeply by family and friends.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elaine Johnson Kam, his sons, Edward Kam, of Connellsville, PA and Stephen Kam (Tamara), LaMirada, CA and his amazing granddaughters, McKinley and Quincy Kam. He is further survived by two sisters, Lucia Fung(Bambi) of Toronto, YauPo Kam, of Japan and a brother Peter Kam (Mary) of Hong Kong. Several nephews, nieces and cousins also mourn his loss.

A memorial service will be held at Green Valley United Methodist Church, Henderson at 2pm on September 2, 2023. In remembrance of Paul please donate to Green Valley United Methodist Church Friends in the Desert fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
