An expressive, optimistic, and uninhibited individual, he was a true humanitarian in every sense of the word. To everyone around him, he seemed to be eternally happy, and he willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life he touched. For Paul, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile, a witty remark or the twinkle of an eye. And with just those simple gestures, he could evoke the most pleasant of emotions. Paul really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.
His parents were Rodolfo and Lilia who raised Paul in Guanajuato, Mexico and later in Las Vegas, NV. As a child, Paul had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around him. He was raised to be a warm, caring and generous boy. Paul was the oldest of four siblings who enjoyed watching out for his younger brother’s Rudy and Pedro, and little sister Andrea, as they grew. Paul was a very protective brother and always looked out for the well being of his siblings.
This is not to say that Paul was all serious, for he also had a wonderful, playful good humor that carried over into his adulthood. He was possessed with an outgoing personality, a lively imagination and a mellowed enthusiasm for life that allowed him to be constantly on the go. As a result, Paul experienced a busy childhood, which was just fine with him. He enjoyed swimming and playing the piano and was active with the boy scouts. He especially enjoyed the piano though; and when spare time allowed, it is most likely where he could be found, at the piano, learning and improving his natural talent. This was a passion that continued throughout his life.
Paul reveled in his college years, where his imagination could run free. He was viewed by many of his classmates as being a creative, artistic person. But for Paul, life was not a case of all play and no work. Paul relished the task of putting his imagination to work in class. He was able to discover new and different ways of answering problems and creating unusual and different solutions. He earned his B. A. in Communications at the Institute of Technology and Superior Studies of Monterrey, México.
The gift of being emotionally expressive and outwardly affectionate made Paul very easy to approach. Paul was always sensitive to other people’s feelings, and that was especially true in marriage. Paul was truly blessed when he met Norma later in life; and cherished the years that he and Norma shared; embracing her family as his own and welcoming them into his. Paul was blessed with 3 children, sons Paul and Aaron, from a previous marriage; and daughter Jessica.
It is no surprise that he loved to travel and to visit new and different places. He was naturally curious about other parts of the world and loved the real life adventure that came from visiting them. Favorite vacations included Lake T, San Francisco and Boston.
As involved and dedicated as Paul was to his community through his various consulting positions, he did find the time to enjoy some leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Artistic by nature, Paul liked creating and making things, especially music and his favorite leisure pursuit was playing the piano.
At work, as in life, Paul was a real “people person.” He had a very successful way of dealing effectively with others, and his enthusiasm and energy was often contagious. When dealing with various projects and problems, Paul was an adaptable realist, using his common sense and trusting his experiences and impulses to uncover the correct answer.
Paul’s innate talent for team building & supervision, his strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and his intuitive nature enabled him to tackle various projects along a broad spectrum. As an extremely successful Business Consultant, some of his favorite roles over the past 10 years included, but were not limited to:
• Vice Chairman for The Nevada State Commission on Minority Affairs; this was an Honorary appointed position under the Business and Industry Commission;
• Valley Center Opportunity Zone, which was a Program funded by the State of Nevada;
• Program Director and Business Research Specialist, Latin Chamber of Commerce; Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Drafter, Finnegan Ericson & Associates;
• Program Coordinator, State of Nevada Bioterrorism Projects and the Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center.
Paul passed away on August 25, 2011 at St. Rose Hospital in Henderson Nevada. He is survived by his mother and father, Rodolfo and Lilia Quiroz; wife Norma; sister Andrea; brothers Rudy and Pedro; sons Paul and Aaron; and daughter Jessica. Services were held at Palm Mortuary.
Paul brought joy to all of those around him. He loved to share his energy, wit, and his zest for all of his activities everyone he came in contact with. He will be remembered by his family and many friends with much love and great joy; and will live on forever in their hearts.
