Pedro “Ed” B. Bernal, a 16-year resident of the Las Vegas area, passed away peacefully on February 24 after a bravely fought battle against prostate cancer. He was lovingly surrounded by his family when he passed to eternal life.
Ed, as he was affectionately called, was born in La Union, Philippines to Jose Sr. and Francisca. He found his soul mate and partner for life when he married Sonia Floro of Dagupan City, Philippines. They raised four children together (Kristine, Elaine, Ronald and Suzanne) and have seven grandchildren (Seth, Ethan, Isabella, Alyssa, Samantha, Jake and Michael), who he enjoyed in his retirement.
Ed received his Accounting degree and worked in the Philippines as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) but spent most of his adult life in the United States. He and his family immigrated to the Chicago, Illinois area in the 1970’s, where he and his wife raised their family. He also welcomed many people to live in his home and loved being surrounded by family. He was a hard worker and had various employers throughout his life, retiring from T.H. Ryan Cartage Company as their Controller. He subsequently moved to the Las Vegas area, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a spiritual man and often led prayers for the Sto. Nino, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Manaoag prayer groups.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sonia; his children and his grandchildren (Kristine and Cezar Camba with their children, Ethan and Isabella; Elaine and Thomas Chun and their son, Michael; Ronald Bernal and his sons, Seth and Jake; and Suzanne and Christopher Houk, with their daughters, Alyssa and Samantha); his siblings (Magdalena, Jose Jr., Alejandro, Fe) and his many nieces and nephews.
