Pete Fernandez

November 23, 1955April 28, 2021

Pete Miguel Fernandez was born on November 23, 1955 in Santiago, Cuba to proud parents Julia and Waldo. His family immigrated to the United States in 1962 to escape communism and pursue the American dream. Throughout his extraordinary life, he lived in many places and met many amazing people-people that were influential to him, as well as those on whom he had a profound impact. He graduated from Clark High School in Las Vegas, NV, and attended college at Oklahoma State University. Although his dream was to be a pilot or join the Highway Patrol, his lifelong career ultimately consisted of sales and working in the Las Vegas casino industry. Among his favorite jobs were Montgomery Ward, Best Buy, the Westward Ho, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and most recently, Green Valley Ranch. He also worked part-time doing home appraisals. He worked extremely hard to provide everything and more for his family- the most important thing in his life. Along with family, his faith was paramount. He converted to Judaism in 2010, and ever since, observing those customs, traditions, and tenets was a focal point of his life.

Pete’s beautiful time on this Earth was cut short when God picked him up on the morning of April 28, 2021. He was survived by his wife of 30 years, Maria Fernandez; his three daughters- Jennifer, Stephanie, and Christine; one son, Raul; three sisters- Suzy, Liliana, and Julie; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Upon Pete’s passing, the sun shines a little less bright and the world feels a little less right. We all love and miss you, and you will remain in our hearts and minds until the fateful day we see you again.

Services will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, May 10, 2021 at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89120. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations in Pete’s memorial go to Congregation Ner Tamid, Henderson, Nevada. Arrangements were handled by King David Memorial Chapel.

I have known Peter since he came from Cuba because his mom Julita and my mom Asela considered themselves sisters having grown up together in Jiguani, Cuba. I have many fond memories of Peter playing with me and my brother when we were growing up in Miami. Even from a young age he was always very humble and kind and I have always had a lot of affection for him. The world has lost a wonderful man. You will be greatly missed cousin Peter. May you Rest In Peace.

Unfortunately, I only met Peter at work recently. Fortunately, I met Peter. He was my work coach. He made my day with his sense of humor and friendship. I will miss him dearly.

Pete we met decades ago when you became one with your beloved wife Mary. I always admired and respected your unity in family and astute manner. Avidly an honorable man of character is biblical. You reflected that here on earth. You are now in God's glory and your loved ones left behind learned from you. Until we all reunite in GODS Kingdom 🙏

To my beloved brother, You will always be in my heart! Just like Mom, you are the most giving person I have ever known. I will never forget the times we laughed and our conversations on your way home from work. When people ask me about my brother, I always tell the stories of how you played "horsies" with me. And although I ended up on the floor with a bumped on my head (LOL) most of the times (I think you actually would do on purpose), I will never forget the way your eyes would become slivers because of how hard you would laugh. You were the BEST big brother!
I will miss you.....I love you!
