Petra Eber Frazer passed away July 27, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a year long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Her family members were at her bedside when she joined our Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. Petra was born in 1943 in Swinemunde, Germany. A city about thirty miles South of Peenemunde, Germany where her family lived and her father worked as a rocket scientist. She was the third daughter of three children born to Dr. Gerhard R. and Hildegard R. Eber. After World War II, Petra’s father was one of the many German scientists brought to the United States to work for the U.S. government. He arrived in the United States in February 1946 and was assigned to the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Silver Springs, Maryland. Petra, her mother, and sisters Inez and Karin, arrived a year later. In May 1953, Dr. Eber was assigned to the Office of Aerospace Research facility at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. The Eber family lived in the nearby town of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Three years later, the entire Eber family became American citizens. Petra enjoyed growing up in the desert town of Alamogordo to the fullest. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Alamogordo High School. She snow skied in the nearby wooded mountain towns of Cloudcroft and Ruidoso, played in the white sand of the White Sands National Monument area, and went horseback riding in the mountains and desert. In 1961, Petra graduated from Alamogordo High School. For her 50th High School Reunion, she submitted the following autobiography. “Following my graduation in 1961, I attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque for two years. During the summer of 1963, I worked in the film library at the Office of Aerospace Research at Holloman AFB. In July, the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing transferred from Chaumont AB, France to Holloman AFB. Lucky for me because I met my soul mate that month, Air Force Capt. David E. Frazer (Dave), one of the fighter pilots assigned to that wing. We were married in 1965 at Holloman AFB Chapel. In February 1966, Dave was assigned to a Combat Crew Training Squadron as an F-4 Instructor Pilot at Davis-Montham AFB, Tucson, AZ. Our son was born September, 1966 and our daughter was born in August, 1968. While stationed at Davis-Montham we owned a small plane and enjoyed flying to the “historic old west” areas of Arizona and visiting my parents in Alamogordo. We sold the plane, bought a travel trailer, and enjoyed camping trips to the Grand Canyon, Cloudcroft, NM and weekend outings. We sold the travel trailer prior to our next assignment. In October 1968 we moved to San Diego, CA when Dave was selected for a two year Navy Exchange tour with a Navy fighter squadron at Miramar Naval Air Station. His squadron deployed to Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Constellation, from August 1969 until May 1970. Our third child and second son was born January, 1970 while Dave was deployed. I really enjoyed the Navy Exchange tour. Being in San Diego afforded me many places to see and visit with the children: San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and beautiful beaches. Following the Navy Exchange assignment, Dave was assigned to the USAF Fighter Weapons School at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada in December 1970. Dave served another tour in Vietnam in 1971 while I remained in Las Vegas. I joined the Showboat bowling team to help the time pass more quickly. Dave was then reassigned to Nellis AFB in 1972. With the close proximity to Lake Mead, we bought a boat to enjoy water skiing and picnicking at the lake. Also, we all had dirt bikes and enjoyed many family rides exploring the local desert area. Dave retired from the Air Force in August 1977, and we chose to stay in Las Vegas and make this our permanent home. In the “Good Old Days of Las Vegas”, the hotels sponsored women’s tennis teams. They would reserve their courts for team practice and tournaments. I joined the Tropicana Women’s Double’s Team in 1975 and became team captain in 1977. We won 1st Place in the “D” Division in June 1978. I continued to play tennis for the next four years as we moved up to the “C” and “B” Divisions. Tennis gave way to a real estate career. I attended real estate school and received my Nevada Real Estate License in June 1981 and my Broker/Salesman license in 1983. I became one of the owners and Corporate Broker of Sunset Realty in 1984. I joined Century 21 Act 1 Realty in 1990 as one of the owners and Vice President of the company. This company received the “C-21 Top Production Leader” awards for the Southern Nevada region from 1986 through 1996. After the children were grown and left the nest, we sold all of our “toys”. To replace the toys, I purchased a beautiful registered Egyptian Arabian horse from a friend who raises and breeds Al Khamsa Arabians. We went on many trail rides, including Bryce Canyon, Utah, a 50 mile organized group ride through the Las Vegas desert, daytime rides in Mt. Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead and weekend rides in the general area. Due to the rapid growth of Las Vegas, I ran out of boarding facilities nearby. Therefore, I gave my horse to a friend who has a ranch in Palmdale, California where he lived out the remainder of his life quite happily. I am currently Broker/Salesman of Realty One Group which is the largest real estate company in Southern Nevada. Who knows what is next?“ Petra continued working as a Broker/Salesman until she reluctantly retired her Real Estate Licence in September, 2014 due to health concerns. She had a very successful thirty three year career as a Realtor, which she absolutely loved. Petra won many awards for her sales production and she also gained many life long friends among her colleagues and clients. Petra had a very sweet nature. She was an unassuming, kind, generous, considerate, selfless, loving, and caring person. She also had a very positive outlook, never dwelled on the past, and only saw the good in people. Petra was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her family and they adored her. She always had a beautiful smile on her face, a great sense of humor and was fun and easy to be with. Family members who preceded her in death are her parents, Gerhard and Hildegard Eber; sisters, Inez ‘Teri’ Bedoya and Karin Hartman. Petra is survived by her devoted husband, David Erwin Frazer; children, Philip Eber Frazer (Honey), Petra Frazer Pike (Eric), Charles Rector ‘Rex’ Frazer (Ashley); stepdaughter, Karen Frazer Rea (Dee); five grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews. Petra was cremated, as she wished, with family members as witnesses. Her Urn was kept at home with her husband until after Christmas. Before the 2017 New Year began, her Urn was placed in a Palm Eastern Cemetery Niche in very close proximity to where her parents’s Niches are located. We feel certain there was joy in the heavens when her spirit returned to her celestial family and home. Petra’s earthly family plan to get together in Las Vegas, on the date of her death, every year to remember and celebrate her life. Rest in Peace Petra. Your family and friends will always love you and remember your big beautiful smile.~
