Renato L Monterola, 67, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents Maria Landicho Monterola and Perfecto Monterola, the mother of his children Erlinda Flores Monterola and his Grandson, Marc-Rhys M. deGuzman.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Apolonia Javier Monterola, his daughters Rinalynn Monterola deGuzman (Marco), Rochelle Monterola Javier (Christian), Maria Shiela Javier Muscat (Michael); his grandchildren Christian M. Wilke, Marc-Rian M. deGuzman, Marli Jayne M. Javier; his brothers and sisters Elena L. Monterola, Elenita M. Tagle (Jesus), Editha M. LoMonaco (Joseph), Elvira M. Lapidario (Renato), Armando L. Monterola (Norma), Angelito L. Monterola (Noriza), Angelina M. Perez (Wilfredo); his oh-so-beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and immeasurable adored friends.
Renato was born on March 15, 1950 in Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines. He was an overachiever and graduated with high honors with a Bachelors in Commerce in Accounting. Shortly after college, he sought out a better life for himself so he migrated to the United States where he met his first love, Lynne - who gave him two beautiful daughters. He suffered his first heartache when the Lord called her home. As years went by and as life would have it, love came into his life a second time around when he met Apple. Blessed with a love unconditional & heaven sent assurance, he lived and loved again.
Renato proved to be a fighter as he survived prostate cancer. Yet once again, he was faced with a long an arduous battle with colon cancer which quickly metastasized to his liver. He went through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and though these treatments often times made him weak, you would never see it in his face or in his demeanor. He was always in good spirits and was a fighter through and through. No matter what the doctors said and no matter what clouds of doubt loomed overhead he would not go down without a fight. So he trusted in his doctors but most of all he trusted in God and believed that whatever the outcome, God’s Will is perfect.
A man, far from perfect, he was a lover of life, the best cook ever, the most generous soul, stubborn to a fault but with the biggest heart ever - he is loved by many and will be remembered always.
