Rory Lamont Darby was born July 28, 1954. He was the only son born to the union of Adam J. Darby and Dorothy M. Darby in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Compton Senior High School and attended Pepperdine University and California State University at Long Beach before marrying Latunya Atkins. Their union produced his only son, Damien and eldest daughter, Britni Darby. Later two more beautiful daughters, Jordan and Matisyn were born into the family.
Rory excelled at art and music and became a talented flute player. He loved people and family. Upon the death of his step-father, Rory dedicated many years to the support and then care of his beloved mother, Dorothy Wright.
Rory leaves behind four children of whom he was very proud; Damien Darby, Britni Darby, Jordan Darby and Matisyn Darby; two grandchildren, Selae Harris and Samir Harris; five sisters Norma Angelle Hicks, Cheryl Dunbar-Polard, Patrice Armbrister, Elaine Steadman, and Dolly Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.
Rory was the light of laughter for us and will sorely be missed.
