Rosalinda Florentin Dimaandal Hughes, 86, died peacefully on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at her Las Vegas home. Rosalinda was born January 13, 1936, in Isabela Philippines to Carmen and Agapito Dimaandal. Rosalinda loved to travel around the world. Her most valued travel include traveling to Jerusalem, The Holy Land; and The Vatican to meet the Pope. In 1959, Rosalinda graduated from the inaugural nursing program from the University of the Philippines finishing top 5 in her class. Armed with her nursing degree, Rosalinda did her post-graduate training in John Hopkins School of Medicine in Chicago Illinois for 2 years.
Rosalinda married her high school sweetheart and long-time love Romeo S. Hughes on April 18, 1964. They had a long and happy life together for 56 years as lifelong companions and best friends. They were blessed with six wonderful children: Karen Marie, Sharon Marie, Yvonne Marie, Jerome John, Howard Joseph, and Rose Marie.
Her hobbies include traveling around the world, dancing, spending time with friends and family, tell stories of her adventures, and listen to her children sing karaoke.
Rosalinda worked as a nurse and moonlighted as a Midwife in rural areas of the Philippines. Aside from being an outstanding and decorated registered nurse, Rosalinda also had several awards as a savvy businesswoman and insurance agent. She held records of top sales for various insurance companies.
Rosalinda had high hopes for her family. In 1983, she uprooted her husband and children from the Philippines to the promise of a better opportunity in the America where her family consequently thrived. Her nursing career continued and flourished and was known to her colleagues to embody a kind and caring soul. She always enjoyed working until she retired at the age of 70 and relocated with her husband to Las Vegas Nevada to be near her children and grandchildren.
Rosalinda was integral to the formation of the Batangueños USA (an association from the province of Bantangas Philippines) and an active member. She was an Hermana of the Santo Nino Devotees along with her closest friends. Projects for both Batangueños USA- Scholarship for the members and family; and Santo Nino Devotees- Organization for Retired Priests and Nuns in the Philippines; was drawn from the creative visions of Rosalinda.
Rosalinda is survived by her six children Karen (Tatlonghari), Sharon (Mangaccat), Yvonne (Ganzon), Jerome, Howard, and Rose (Valmonte); seventeen grandchildren; sister, Carmelita; sisters-in-law Leticia, Virginia and Cora; and many, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Romeo in December 2020.
Rosalinda will be most be remembered for her great love story, passion for world travel, and her devotion to her children. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and family.
