Our memories of Roseanne, was always very welcoming, she was a beautiful person,  loved making delicious  dinners, she loved hosting and entertaining her friends and family.
Her husband Ed was the love of her life and together there was always laughter and funny times.
Our last visit with Roseanne with my sister Anna was wonderful, and showed us a good time in Vegas and fun conversations. 
She will be missed very much and never forgotten. May she rest in 
peace and reunite with her beloved husband Ed.

Roseanne was the most caring person I knew, she had known  my family and I for many years. She saw me and my sisters grow up and always encourage us to go to school. When I was applying to university she helped me write my essays and I will forever be thankful to her. This was my high school graduation and thanks to her this fall I will be graduating from UNLV, we love you Roseanne and I know you will be there when I graduate this semester ❤️❤️

As a little girl I loved going to my Aunt Roseannes house to play with her kittens, especially one named Hurricane. The only problem was I was extremely allergic. Luckily Aunt Roseanne had a knack for picking out the perfect gifts and one Christmas she gave me a stuffed animal that looked just like Hurricane. Wherever I went, Hurricane came… vacation, college, a move to Florida. She now sits in my daughters bedroom where she also appreciates the history behind it. 

Aunt Roseanne was smart, kind and extremely generous. She will be greatly missed.

During our visit with Roseanne in 2018, Bebe and I  immediately loved each other! Even though I'm wearing a black sweater if you look close Bebe is wrapped around my neck!

The life of Roseanne Minikle deserves to be celebrated. She was born February 1941, the only child of Louis ScGritta and Celia Manzolillo ScGritta.Her mother, Celia was my aunt, so Roseanne was my first cousin.When I was born she was happy to become my Godmother and we grew up together in Long Island.Throughout life she always encouraged me, and from her many travels in life she would sent gifts. One of her greatest pleasures in life was being a English teacher. She truly cared about her students and colleagues. Later in life she met, fell in love, and married Edward Minikel and enjoyed their life together until Ed passed. Lots of good memories of her mom's prize winning ravioli. Not to mention the big family BBQ's in the backyard with all the cousins and family/friends with everyone welcome. My mom, Carmen, was her aunt and they spoke on the phone every single day for decades. Her kindness, caring, smile, and quick wit will be something her friends and family will fondly remember. She was eager to help anyone and so appreciative of those whom helped her. She was so proud of her wonderful group of friends and so enjoyed playing Mahjong, also her numerous book clubs and outings. Her love of animals brought two cats, Bebe and Clancy, and her dog Zippy into her life, they all brought her so much joy! Bebe would actually "talk" on the phone every time we spoke! My wife and I are very thankful for her neighbors, Phyllis and Linda, because of them they got re-homed, which made Roseanne so happy, and all 3 are doing great! Phyllis and Linda quickly became more than neighbors to Roseanne, they became family and stepped up to the plate for Roseanne and met her every need until her earthly end, deeply restoring our faith in humanity and kindness towards each other. We're sure Our Lord Jesus welcomed her and said "Well done my child, Your Home". RIP Rosanne We love you! Louis & Christine Minutello 

Roseanne was a caring friend and a wonderful teacher. Although she was already retired from teaching when we first met, her teaching skills were evident in the way she communicated. She continued to use her teaching skills as a volunteer  English language tutor to non-native speakers.

I will miss Roseanne's book analysis during book club meetings, her kind manner, and her wonderful laughter.

May her soul be at peace.

While writing this, I am packing up the home I have lived in since I was 2 years old.  It is difficult and sad, but I am starting a new life in a wonderful place.  As I sort through my possessions, I find so many beautiful things that Roseanne has given me through the years. 
When she left New York, although I missed her, we spoke often and maintained our special relationship.
I always admired Roseanne's strength, independence, fearlessness (except for lizards and snakes), and ability to get through anything, often on her own. One of her favorite phrases was "this too shall pass".
I wish I could talk to her now and borrow some of her strength, but I will take a deep breath and think of her.

Elma and I had the pleasure of knowing Roseanne through her friends, Phyllis and Linda. We took her in to our care home in October of last year. I would never forget Roseanne's kindness and her beautiful smile. Roseanne was very grateful for any little thing we did for her. She always kept a positive attitude despite having some physical discomfort. She made me  appreciate the little things in life such as getting a good shower, the good weather, having a good meal, and the value of family and friendships. She is very generous and thoughtful to people around her. My 8 year old son would come by to show Roseanne his dribbling skills after school and on his birthday, she gifted my son a book about basketball. She  would ask me to mail holiday cards to friends/family. Came Christmas time, she was on the phone all day ordering gifts to be delivered. She always saw the good in people. Thank you for the chance of getting to know you in the short time we spent together, Roseanne. It was a pleasure to take care of you.  I know you are smiling down on us all. You not only left me with so much wisdom but gave me a life purpose and made me realize the reason why I do what I do.

Roseanne, Linda and Phyllis

The "Minikel Girls" shared many holidays in the kitchen, cooking, laughing and gossiping. Roseanne's move to Las Vegas changed our celebrations, but we will always cherish those times.

Aunt Roseanne was such a caring and thoughtful member of our family. She was always there to make sure you were well fed and had your favorite dessert. She always offered me a lap to sit on during our family card games. I will always remember getting to be on Aunt Roseanne’s “team” and learn from her whether we were playing the stoop game, Balderdash or anything in between. 

Aunt Roseanne was also very generous and shared her love of books with my siblings, cousin and I.  I still have the collection of amazing books that she gifted to me. I am thankful to be able to share them with my students and now with my son! I will continue to read to him and tell him about his wonderful Great-Aunt Roseanne. 

You will truly be missed Aunt Roseanne! 

BRAVO, MARVOLEUS, WEL DONE are a few words that are forever ingrained when thinking of Roshanne. She knew the way to make you feel special, happy, or just loved. She loved to cook and once Janet and I made a crazy decision to find Rosehanne and Ed at there home away from home ( The Land) the only problem was that we didn't know where the.and was, only that it was near Roscoe. We made the trip anyway, well we got to Roscoe,  stopped at the bar that they said the realtor was always at. We found d someone knew them and told said go down the road made a right then make a left and go up the mountain and that's where the land is. We made the turns and ended on a dirt road going up the mountain. But what happens at the fork in the road on the mountain? We guessed a few times on that dirt road and happened to find them. A MIRACLE! Needless to say both Roshanne and  Ed were very happy  to happy to see us and convinced us to stay and enjoy there home away from home. Roseanne made a meal out in the open that made us think she was expecting us to show up. 
Roseanne you were always ready, always happy,and will always be a part of our  family.  
We love you Roshanne!







My sister-in-law Roseanne was a magnificent addition to the Minikel family. She was generous with both her time and gifts for every member of the family especially her nieces and nephews. Roseanne loved books and she gifted my children with many beautiful books that have now been passed down to my grandson.
     I have so many wonderful memories of holidays, vacations, backyard BBQ’s and last minute get togethers (card games). Roseanne always made sure everyone was well fed and content when she was hosting. She was a wonderful cook and I still use her stuffed mushroom recipe to this day.
     I am very sad Roseanne is gone, but know she is now back with her husband, my brother. I will miss her, but will always remember Roseanne as the kind, loving person she was. Rest In Peace Roseanne.

It's always challenging to put pen to paper during sad times, but the more I think of my Aunt Roseanne the more I treasure the many great memories we shared.

Aunt Roseanne was a deeply caring and genuine person. She would put her full heart into everything she did.. whether it was hosting a card game, putting together a holiday feast, or participating in her niece/nephew's (ridiculous) short films.

My last true memory of Aunt Roseanne and Uncle Ed was spending a short period of time with them in Vegas. They were kind enough to share their home, provide endless food, and show me around the city. Despite not seeing them for years prior, we had picked up our relationship where it left off. And that's what I could always expect from such a lovely person.

Aunt Roseanne - you will be missed! And I'll be thinking of you and Uncle Ed every time I pick up that guitar.

I will always cherish the many happy memories Aunt Roseanne and I shared when living on Long Island. When our family went to Aunt Roseanne and Uncle Ed’s house to visit, we always knew there would be good food, amazing desserts, family card games, hiding cats and plenty of laughs to be had. 
A specific experience I will always remember is when Aunt Roseanne brought me and my siblings to the show Cats on Broadway. Any family member could tell you I had an obsession with animals at the time, so this was something very magical for me as a child. The last few years I sent Aunt Roseanne a Christmas card with a picture of my cats on it. She always had the same remark “I want to know how you get your cats to pose for the camera!” The answer… plenty of treats. Aunt Roseanne was a lovely, remarkable woman and she will be missed dearly.

Roseanne,  it’s been so difficult for me to write to you however here we go.
I miss you and love you.
You were my coffee and political buddy.
Everyone always asked who I was to you when visiting or helping you. I would say I was your neighbor/ friend.  Others asked if I was your daughter and we just stopped correcting everyone.
I loved our great escapes which is what you called them.  The escapes always included Italian food.
You laughed about the fact for the first time in your life you didn’t ask for a tax extension due to your procrastination . Your tax man also was shocked.  You loved your roses, you were afraid of lizards which made me think about your camping adventures with Ed.
You told Linda and I you had 11 life’s. In your phone contact I’m known as Phyllis next door for a while I didn’t think you knew my last name.
I believe people are put together for a reason. I never wanted you to be alone or feel alone. I wanted to honor you and give you the dignity you so deserved.  “Be Well”

I met Roseanne in 2018 when she moved in next door.  We would see each other and talk every so often when we would be in our backyards.  In 2020, the whole world changed as Covid-19 reared its ugly head.  I suddenly lost my job and at age 60 I had to look for work.  At this time Roseanne was having some health issues so I started to drive her to appointments and it was during this time Phyllis and I became good friends with her.  Due to Covid-19 she found herself confined to the house so we spent more and more time together as we were also staying home to be safe.  She got me through a very difficult time.  She always had a positive attitude.  She was definitely my cheerleader.  She would tell me everyday, today would be the day that some Employer was going to be so lucky to find you. Roseanne was always there to listen and encourage me to keep moving forward.  Even as businesses started to open up, Roseanne was not comfortable going out.  We started spending holidays and birthdays together.  She became family to us.  Our only regret is that we didn’t have more together before she got really sick.  I miss and love you Roseanne.

Roseanne insisted on voting in person therefore here we are waiting in line and shortly after we got there we realized Roseanne had gotten the time wrong.  We were a couple hours early.  We were the 3rd, 4th and 5th person in line so obviously # 1 and #2 got the time wrong also.  It was nice just being able to take Roseanne outside.  She was passionate about voting.

Roseanne’s first trip to a restaurant since the pandemic started.  Phyllis and I celebrated her 81st Birthday with her at her favorite Mexican Restaurant.   Such a great time seeing her so happy.  We love and miss you.

Roseanne was my sister-in-law. Thinking of her brings back memories of family holidays and celebrations, card games,
Vermont vacations, visits to Atlantic City, camping, and so many other good times.  Her ready laugh, generosity and kindness will always be remembered. 
I am grateful for the wonderful wife she was to my brother Ed, and know they are together again. I miss them both.

The first thing I noticed about Roseanne, when I met her in 2008 was her kind eyes and warm smile. I first met Roseanne at the St.Rose Women’s Center where Tea & Talk Book Club and other women’s groups served to bring people together in friendship. Her insights and  caring personality quickly made me admire her. 

Our talks were many and often we would smile and laugh at our shared Italian -American family life memories back in Brooklyn as we were growing up. A special treat from Roseanne, was that she taught me how to play MahJong, which turned out to be such fun. I will always cherish the memories of our friendship.

Rest In Peace.May God’s light shine on you,Roseanne,and may you meet in Heaven, all your precious loved ones who have gone before you.

I met Roseanne when she attended the widow’s group where I facilitated. She took time to grieve well and soon I knew she was ready to volunteer as a Senior Peer Counselor. She was so excited when she completed the training! Roseanne continued with the widow’s group and  was a help to me and a friend as well!  I could always count on her. Sadly, her health issues slowed her down and she has been missed, but not forgotten. We were blessed to call you our friend. 

Roseann and I started teaching at Lynbrook HS in 1968.  We soon became close friends and have remained so through the decades.  We were all young and single and Rose would host these wonderful dinners.  She regaled us all with fantastic  Italian feasts the likes of which this Irish American could not even imagine.  We all looked forward to those invitations.  One Christmas she presented me with a lovely little box and inside was a collection of her favorite recipes.  I tried, oh how I tried, but I could never quite replicate the same finished products that she produced.  I still have the box and the recipes and I am still trying!
Rose was an EXCEPTIONAL teacher.  She could go into her Advanced Placement class and introduce the students to ancient Greek plays. The next period she would be assisting less gifted students to grasp and appreciate poems or short stories.  Rose would bring the same enthusiasm and skill to both classes and get her desired results.  One year as head of the Drama Club she decided to put on WEST SIDE STORY.  She convinced a group of boys who were not known for their love of school to audition for the gang members in the play.  This would require dancing and singing.  You can imagine their reaction.  But no one could say no to  Rose when she turn on the charm.  The guys were the hit of the show and, no doubt, that was the highlight of their HS years.  
Later, this sweet, modest, soft-spoken lady became president of our teachers' local.  In that role she was not always sweet and soft-spoken!  She brought the same professionalism and dedication to that role as she did to her classroom, and with equal success. 
She led a wonderful life.  She brought joy to so many.  She is loved by so many.  Not a bad job Rosie.  God bless.

Roseanne Minikel changed my life. As a high school student in her English class, she encouraged me to write creatively and that has set the course of my life. I owe her more than I could ever repay.
About a year ago I left a message on an answering machine trying to express my gratitude. I only hope she received it.

I first met Roseanne at LHS in 1975; I was a new student-teacher, and she was to be my cooperating teacher.  Probably, that was the luckiest day of my career.  Roseanne remained my life-long trusted mentor and friend.  Compassionate, bright, witty, brave, sincere and true, Roseanne was a guide to me, her students, her colleagues, her friends.  She inspired everyone to become their best selves.  She led by example, dedication, advocacy.  Roseanne should be remembered for her compassion, hearty laugh, bottomless generosity, and life-long commitment to make this world a better place.

Rosanne was a very special person and a wonderful teacher, but also a real powerhouse. I thought of her just yesterday. We are moving to Peconic Landing in the near future and I was clearing out stuff (a lot of stuff) and came across some stage set designs I had done for her and my cover art for two of the programs. 

The Drama Club under her guidance was far and above any I knew of, because it was not well supported by the school. It was expected to pay for itself. So costumes and sets were all student or parent made … Together, we raised money by occasional Cafe Teria talent shows with homemade pizza, donuts, apple cider. The district didn’t pay for supervisors as for other activities. It became so successful that we had to stop running them. Students, even HS bands from other districts away showed up. We couldn’t handle the sheer numbers. 

I had numerous run-ins with administration as adviser to a free student press and Roseanne was always there in my defense.   

I share her admonitions about the proper way to make bolognese sauce (though I have my own way) and we made tiramisu from her recipe. We managed to get out to visit her when she moved and were treated to her cooking. 

We both served as Lynbrook Teachers Association presidents and interacted together with administration on many occasions. Once in the 70s, we were meeting with the administration about the problem of drugs regularly bought and sold in the halls. They didn’t see it as the problem. “I’ll be right back,” said Roseanne. She came back less than 2 minutes later small bag of marijuana she'd gotten from a student. 

She was … very special.
