Formerly Roxie Eileen Downs, she was born on December 16, 1947 in Sewickley, PA to Wesley and Audrey Downs. Roxie and her family moved to Long Beach, California in the early 1950’s. She found her soul mate and partner for life, Orlando, when they both worked for a company located in Torrance, California. They got married at the “Little Church of the West” Chapel on Las Vegas Blvd on November 27, 1975.
Roxie and Orlando (Rudy to some relatives and friends) worked in the Los Angeles area until late 1979, when they decided to go for the adventure and moved to Alaska. They both ended up working for the State of Alaska; Roxie with the Dept. of Fish and Game as a Procurement Specialist. They lived and worked in Juneau, Alaska until they took an early retirement in March 2000, after twenty years with the State and chose Las Vegas for their retirement.
Roxie was a kind and caring person, loved her dogs and loved Mexican food.
Roxie and Orlando’s marriage and love for each other lasted for forty-five years and would have continued if not for her untimely passing.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, June 14, 2019 at Palm Eastern Mortuary; a burial will follow the service.
