

Sam Harrison was born in the Country of Belize (formally British Honduras) on April 7, 1924, the fifth child of Samuel and Emeline Harris. He attended St. Michael High School in Belize, after graduation he enlisted in the Police Force. As a policeman, Sam was assigned to different districts in Belize. He later joined the Forestry Department as a Forest Ranger.
Sam or “Sonny”, as he was called, was a sportsman who played both soccer and cricket as a young man in Belize. In his later years, he became an avid fan of all kinds of sporting activities. In 1961, Sam migrated to the United States, residing in Los Angeles, California and worked as an associate in the auto parts department of Longo Toyota, retiring in 1993. During this time, Sam studied to become a Dental Technician.
In 1990, Sam met Ms. Cynthia Byam and at his retirement migrated to Las Vegas. On December 2, 1995 Sam and Cynthia became husband and wife and their life together became engrossed in traveling and exploring the world. Sam and Cynthia had an abiding faith in Christ and as a part of the Progressive Pilgrim church they strove to aid the less fortunate as evidenced by Sam’s Place, dedicated to Sam O Harris. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Norma and Marcia.
Sam is survived by his wife Cynthia; her children - Peter, Anita and George; his children - Jane, Chester, Larry Sr., Dorothy, Sonia, Michael, Sam Jr., Gilbert, Ann, Carolyn, Evadne, Leslie (Butch), Dolores, Dean, Brian, Tracey and Bruce. Sam also leaves to mourn numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
