Sam Johnson was born to the late Lenard and Sadie Johnson in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. He lived in Woodville, Mississippi until adulthood. He then joined the U.S. Army at 24-years of age and then retired after 20-years of service as a 100% DAV war veteran in Seaside, California. Sam also worked, and retired, from the city of Pacific Grove, California. In 2005, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife, Ida Mae Johnson. Sam was one of five children; three of whom preceded him in death. Sam was a Duke for the Derfelt Desert Darlings, A Red Hat Chapter. He enjoyed serving them. Sam is already missed by his family and friends.
